I know most guards units like to hire from within, however can anyone suggest some midwest guard units that are both looking for pilots and will consider outsiders (I have 5 years of flying experience and respectable BAT/AFOQT/GPA and a 4 year degree)'

Many thanks in advance

I was an outsider when hired, no prior experience. My best advise is to apply at every unit you can. Even if they traditionally hire from within still send them a resume. It couldn't hurt. If you keep trying some unit will call and eventually hire you.

Good Luck

I am a prior and was hired by my unit, however when I was commissioned almost 1/2 of the pilots at AMS were non-prior. Actually all but a few of the non priors were going to fighters. I kinda found that surprising. Anyway, just apply your heart out. If you are willing to look outside of the mid west there are a couple units throughout the nation that are in transition if I am not mistaken and from the research I have done many of those units take a lot of new folks to replace all the retirees who do not want to learn a new weapons system.
