I showed up to work at AirNet with my 135 mins, so it didn't apply to me, but at Airnet the SICs get PAID.... they do NOT pay for their right seat time.... In addition, they also get a seniority number that reflects their date of hire, not the date they pass their PIC upgrade.... which means that if you show up 135 qualified, SICs who are upgrading as you finish training will be able to outbid you for open runs.... I used to be bitter about that, but I have since gotten over it, but I still think they should only get their numberas after they upgrade..... looks like I haven't completely gotten over it..... AirNet is in no way PFT

Sorry, didn't know that. My bad. Sounds like it's even better than I thought over there. Serious question, can the plane go without the FO?

yeah 95 percent of our flights are single pilot, theres just a few runs out there with 120 or so hours a month that they put the SIC guys on to build there time. I did it out of PHL, flew 30 + hours a week. I got bumped alot for cargo, company riders, etc. Its a good way to get a bit of experience in the system before going out there on your own. Its all paid too, not quite as much as you make as a PIC but its still enough for food + crashpad.

Whoa, back it on up guys. Outfits like this do absolutely nothing to drive down anyone's wages. You need to look at outfits that are truely PFT. One that comes to mind would be Gulfstream. AMF, Airnet, and GTA all have FO's that are paying for their seat, true. But they can be bumped for freight, or if he/she doesn't show up the flight still goes. They are NOT replacing a paid pilot. Now, if these pilots show up in front of you for an interview one day, how you view the time in their logbook is up to you, but it did not bring down the industry.

The F.O. program at AMF is a time builder, not a true PFT where they take a paying pilots job. The F.O. can be bumped due to cargo weight if the need arises, plus any AMF aircraft that REQUIRE two pilots per the Aircraft Flight Manual, then there are two company employed PAID pilots (Brazilia, Learjet).

I love the remark that PFTers are bringing wages down yet countless people happily accept low paying captain jobs.
