Reading this story is very sobering. Hopefully it will make all of us even more careful while we are flying passengers. As for the exorbitant amount of money, I can't put a price tag on what she has lost. Let this be a cautionary tale and please think twice before acting recklessly with passengers onboard.

I am not familiar with the regs outside of the USA, so I am wondering what makes a pilot "qualified" to land at certain airports.
 
Some European countries require airport-specific checkouts for particularly challenging airports.

Courchevel in France comes to mind.
