Is it considered duty, while in ground school...specifically, do you need 24/7 off....looks like 121.503 might apply (all duty) but not sure, and need reference please...thanks..

Duty

Looks like it does, since it references "all duty" not just things directly involving flight.

We always got it off, but not sure if that was regulatory or contractual ...

I did 9 in a row with a 24 hr layover. But yes it counts cause I tried without the long layover and it came up illegal

FYI did it just so I could have a longer vacation and I was 27. Never again

Make sure you argue this with the instructor during new hire training, then when you arrive in the "Director of Training's Office", make sure you continue arguing about the the FAR's and threaten to call the FAA. Then when in the Unemployment line, make sure you continue the same griping to your "case worker"!

Apparently this happened somewhere, Call Union, don't trust the peanut Gallery on FI!

Take it for what it's worth!

After all that coffee to stay awake, there is gonna be a lot of calculated "doodie" time. I mean duty time.
