I'm sure most of you have noticed that my Packer avatar has been removed. This is due to Favre and the boys playing like a bunch of old women. I will now allow myself to be bombarded with ridicule and sarcasm.

Fire Away,
Skyking

I'll take some of the heat off you.

I'm a Die hard Cowboys fan...raised in the Lone Star State. I hope Bill Parcells can bring back at least an over .500 record. Still cant believe the Texans beat the Cowboys. And don't even mention the last game of the season with the 'skins.

Hey why are you guys pointing that flame-thrower at me?

Rook
600' AGL
Autopilot on.
'WHEW!'

Believe me when I say that I am not a "fair weather" Packer fan. I have not and will not support any other NFL team in the same capacity that I do with the Green Bay Packers. I assure you, the Packer avatar will be back next September along with a stronger, healthier, and hopefully wiser football team.

Just wait until next year,
Skyking

I feel your pain

Skyking:

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. I kept on waking up last night thinking it was just a bad dream. But as a long time fan who was born the year that Lombardi left for the Redskins, I try to keep it in perspective. If you read the bumper stickers on the family truckster when I was young, you would have discovered:

1972- "The Pack is Divine"
1975- "A Fresh Start with Bart"
1979- "You Can Sack our Pack, but you can't Lick our Dickey (my favorite)"
1984- "The Pack is Back" (not much clever to say with Forrest Gregg at the helm)
1989- Infante We Trust

In '93, a buddy of mine and myself came up with a shirt to sell at the games. It had a picture of a stick figure throwing a football on the front, and it said Farvregnungen on it (like the VW ads), with a definition on the back. Sales were pretty brisk until the end of the season, when Brett had more interceptions than TDs. But in the long run, things turned out pretty well...

Remember Brent Fumblewood? Barty Smith? Mossy Cade? Tony Mandarich? I could go on and on, but you get the picture. I'm just trying to cheer myself up a little bit. It wasn't a great season, but it's been worse, and we still have Brett. Hey, it could always be worse. After all, we could be Vikings fans.

That''s nothing! I've been an Arizona/St.Louis Cardinal football fan since 1974. You remember every win because they're so few and far between. One nice thing about it is you have no enemies because everyone beats you plus you don't get all wrapped up worrying about playoff games. If the Cards go above .500 that's like winning the Super Bowl. Actually I was quite happy with their performance this year (5-11). I thought they'd go 4-12.
Next year I think they'll do "bad"...2-14 or 3-13.
Aim your expectations low so you'll never be disappointed!

A couple of more names from the past...

Hey Redshirt...

You've got a couple of years on me but I'm sure you will remember names like: Don Majkowski, Lynn Dickey, Mark Murphy, Tim Harris, John Jurkovic, Randy Wright, and the great Reggie White. Hey, now I'm starting to feel a little better.

True, we're not Vi-queens fans. But even more importantly we're not Bears fans. They STILL suck! Sorry FlyChicaga. Sometimes you have to keep up the oldest rivalry in football.

Cheers,
Skyking

Don't feel so bad - or

Been there, done that.

Supposedly our Denver Broncos were going to the Super Bowl. Mike Shanahan said this year's team was the most talented since he has been head coach. He may be right. He has better athletes on defense than he had during the Super Bowl years. It's just that at least a couple of them didn't alway come to play football. Also, quarterbacking was suspect. It all proves that to win in the NFL you need a quarterback. Just take a look at the wild card game results.

Yes, the Packers were flat Saturday night. I remember plenty of times when the Broncos were flat in the playoffs. The playoffs are the crucible of team quality. Any weaknesses your team might have will be shown up in the playoffs. I remember the Broncos' early Super Bowl years. I always knew they'd lost to the likes of the Redskins, Giants and 49ers. Dan Reeves got them there with John Elway and mirrors. You can't win the Bowl with mirrors. You have to have a real team.

Oh, well, there's always next year - probably with a new quarterback.

From The Packers web site:

Putting an end to speculation that he might retire, Monday Packers quarterback Brett Favre said he would be back in uniform next season.

"As I said during the season, I have every intention of coming back and want to be back," Favre said. "I see no reason why this team shouldn't compete for a Super Bowl next year, or why I shouldn't be a part of it.

"Hopefully we'll leave it at that and next year you all can start asking me the same (retirement) questions again."

Favre led the Packers to a 12-4 record and the NFC North title in his 12th season as a pro.

"In my opinion we have nothing but great things to look forward to here," Favre said.

Hey Skyking, don't forget

Charles Martin!

Speaking of the Bears... I have been living in Chicago for about 7 years now, and I have made enough money on Packer/Bear bets with co-workers this season to treat my brother and I to 50 yard line seats at Lambeau (and a tasty Prime Rib dinner at Eve's supper club the night before the game).

We Packer fans love the Bears. They taste just like chicken.

Turnovers.....5 GB to 0 ATL

The pack will be back as always next year. Turnovers have been key all year long. Hard to overcome in any game playing any team. Skyking right there with ya! Wished they could have made it all the way this year, so the unemployed wisconsinites could have something to take their minds off the economy. Where do you work at SkyKing? I'm from Shevegas area or Sheerboredom, better known as brat capital of the world.
