You don't need any college to go to flight school or even get on with the regionals. However if you want to get past the regionals and get on with the majors a college degree is a big plus.

At 23 yrs old you are still 37 or 42 yrs (if that age 65 crap passes) from retirement so you don't really have to rush too much. If you are looking to get into the majors someday then I would seriously look into getting some sort of college degree...a BS is usually preferred. Getting your ratings as fast as possible and doing nothing else might actaully be slower in the long run. I'd say a good idea would be to stay at some sort of local FBO and work as hard as you can on your ratings and at the same time spend a few years in college and knock out your general ed stuff. By that time you can easily have you CFI CFII and MEI. Then if you have the time for the regionals great start throwing our the resumes. If you don't have the time, don't worry cause you will be pretty close should only be a few months of full time flying in FL. Get on with a regional and wait till you get out on the line and settled a few months. Then look into an online degree program. I finished up my BS with ERAU online and it worked great with the regional life style. Start off slow at first maybe one or two classes a semester and see how it goes. For me it worked great. I had one year of classes left when I started classes online and I was able to get my degree in just under a year and a half. Anyways knowing what I know now, if I were in your shoes thats what I'd do.

Oh yeah I forgot. Heres a good sequence to get your ratings. Of course you have to get your Private first. Then get your instrument. Next knock out the Comm Single. Next get your CFI start instructing and use money you make from CFI'ing to get your CFII (its a "short" rating if you work hard and doubles the amount of students you can teach). Now get your Comm Multi with the money you make from your CFI, CFII. Now all that is left is to get your MEI. Once you get your MEI chase down as many multi students as you can cause at that point multi time will be gold.

The best is DCA , they have turned hundreds of pilots to the airline and I have known many . You`ll always have wash outs who have access to the internet to voice there narrow opinion . Make sure you check all aspects of the place . Don`t forget maintenance while checking as well , if it isnt good those planes sit and you can`t fly even if you wanted .
