While this may not be the best forum I just couldn't let the day pass without mourning the loss of a baseball great and ex-military pilot, the Splendid Splinter, Ted Williams.

He was a legend of the game, the greatest pure hitter that ever lived, and words can't convey how much he meant to Red Sox fans everywhere.

Rest in Peace, Ted. You will be missed.

Ted Williams....gone but not forgotten

Teddy Ballgame

People often overlook that Ted Williams was a great hitting instructor. During his first year as Senator manager in 1969, he had a mediocre-hitting shortstop by the name of Eddie Brinkman. Brinkman was something like a career .175 hitter. Williams worked with him and Brinkman finished with a .266 average. .266 may not be much of an average, but it's still better than hitting below .200.

We can talk about Ted Williams here. He was a pilot, flying fighters for the Marines in WWII and Korea.
