CHQ, S5, or Republic would be best if you live east of the mississppi, unless you like it out west.
S5 (shuttle america) definitely has my attention with the EMB170s. Hiring mins are stiff, and I've heard pilots complain here and there about the way the airline is run, but the pay looks fairly good, and again, love those planes.

The EMB 170s fly a lot of longer range flights, and have larger vertical demensions, good for packing cargo in the belly, and giving PAX more head room.

Also, I'd imagine it would look good on a resume for JetBlue with their EMB 190s.

:puke: SJS:smash:

Most of the people that hate their jobs are commuters, and regionals aren't built for commuting. Most of the people that enjoy their job, make a decent living and spend more time at home than their neighbors live in base.

Great in theory. In practice, with regional airlines opening and closing bases like they're a van-on-the-side-of-the-road-shrimp-stand, living in base is no guarantee that you won't end up a commuter at some point anyway.

Your choice: live where you want and commute; or move to a base and hope your base stays open a while.

I think that you are barking up the wrong tree. If you want to sell airplanes for a living you should stay away from the regionals. I have bought a few airplanes (Yes turbine) and not one sales person was a former regional pilot. You need to work on selling first then try to get a job selling. The hours will accumulate as you work up the sales ladder. Either that or you need to network and get a corporate gig to log the time in the airplanes you wish to sell. Just bought a Columia a few months ago and the sales guy said they like people with limited sale experiance. Good luck. Oh yea if you haven't sold any of your students an airplane yet you have a long way to go!

it's 800/100 with a walked-in resume
SkyWest has a hard minimum of 1000/100 for insurance reasons - and I got that straight from the horse's mouth. Unless they have a new insurance agreement that I don't know about, it's not 800tt. There are plenty of very qualified applicants at SKYW so I doubt they would go to the trouble to lower mins.

Dude, WTF? Did you just come off a heated debate at airliners.net? Why would jetBlue care if you flew a 170? Glass cockpit time is transparent, not type specific.

"Dude," can't a guy say why he likes an airline without sounding "heated." If you have any info on why I should steer clear of S5, please, I'm all ears.

For instance, I know I don't want to work for Mesa because I don't want to be paid crap to be laying on a plywood board at 3AM sippin Koolaid.

Oh, and BTW the EMB 190 (which JetBlue has) is just a stretched 170. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get one type rating to cover both, can anyone confirm this?

Yes, the E170/190 is the same type rating....and NO, the FO payrates for the E-Jets at RAH don't look good.

I'm at $35.90 which is max FO pay at RAH (e-170). I don't know how many years that 35.90 scale is as I came in at max fo pay, I think its about 5 or 6 years.

US Air starts at 41 for the 190 and JB is about 37 or so for the 190.

EAGLE BABY!!!!
With your times, they will definately take a look at you!!!! They need to hire tons of guys for attrition and overall low staffing levels. Good bases, stable, decent contract, not a bad place. Heck, I'll personally recommend you to the company:D .
Plus, once you put your time in, you can always flowthrough.....
