Just got extended for the 4th, I was supposed to get off at 9:00am, but I figured that wouldn't happen. When I called to get my confirmation number they informed me that they had over 160 sick calls in the last two days. That is awesome!!! Yes it sucks to get extended, but I can't think of any better reason than everyone else has called in sick. I would call in myself except for the fact I have five occurences. Anyway just thought I would pass along the good news.

Getting extended sucks, but this is what it is going to take to get a contract. If you have the ability to call in do so, I don't mind filling in for you. Just for you mgmt. lackeys, this has nothing to do with ALPA, this is just a bunch of pissed off pilots tired of the bullsh!t and we refuse to be treated like crap anymore. Even though I can't call in, I can make sure the operation in ATL today doesn't run as smooth, looking forward to that.

It's not "screwing" anyone, except for those who choose not do anything about the issues.

Those who choose not to care, cry that ALPA will get in trouble, or complain about someone else doing something, deserve to get "screwed". Hope you enjoy your 4th at work.

July 4th and Superbowl Sunday have LONG been heavy sick days. The company has statistics on this going back years. Christmas is also heavy, but not like the other two. They will survive without a single complaint to the NMB about the sick calls. Life goes on and we will all go back to work under the same contract we have right now.

These sick calls are NOT a protest to negotiations. They've been going on way longer than negotiations. They happen because "individuals" want that particular day off.

After looking at crewtrac when I got home yesterday I noticed that they wanted to extend me for a R/T. Sadly, they screwed their attempt up so badly that I didn't even have a chance to try and dodge the call.

On Monday got extended more than 72 hours in advance, on Friday. Isn't this stuff supposed to be put on open time so folks can bid it?

I doubt there were 160 sick calls, unless they are including the FA's (sometimes CS exaggerates). But the fact the airline is not running on schedule is causing a lot of crew rest and 30 in 7 problems.

We have had more than 40 quit in the last couple of weeks and that has to put pressure on the system since almost of those pilots were holding lines for July.

This is being looked at by our contract compliance people. This is flat out illegal. If this happens to you, notify the scheduling clerk that it is an illegal assignment. If they persist, talk to a chief pilot. If the assignment sticks, talk to the grievance folks. There's a lot of grey area in our contract, but this one's a slam dunk,

No, thank SH for approving LOA for 2 new hires. One wanted 3 weeks off for a honeymoon and the other one week off to sail a boat from France to England.

I think Scott Hall is a great person to have at ASA. My experiences with him have been positive, and I understand he has been instrumental in granting leaves for people to attend FFDO trainings.
