Good AMEs in ATL

I would like your input on some good AMEs. I normally to goto Dr. K in Vinings. But since United Health Care won't allow him to file it as a normal "physical" anymore, it's about 150 bucks. ugh. I was so spoiled for years only paying a co-pay.


I'd be okay with 100ish...

I'm counting pennies at the moment which is why I'm looking around.

Dr. Williams up on Delk Road is $85.00 Quick and easy does what the FAA wants nothing more and nothing less. They are quick and easy. He is a little quirky and the office is always chaos but the nurses do a very good job of getting the pilots in and out. I know quite a few Delta and Air Tran guys that go there. Hope that helps.

I've posted this guy of before, but Dr. C. R. Harper of AeroMed does a nice job. I think he was former Navy/United.

He is located just off Buford Highway, right after you get off 285. Take a left off 285, then the 1st or 2nd light, and it's one of the offices inside the office park. It's near PDK if you don't know where I am talking about.

Handshake and "what's in the lower right box" and your out the door.

His wife runs the office, real nice people.

I've been to Dr. Williams before, and he's a nice guy who gives an easy medical, but I only use him as a backup to Dr. Kaufmann. The $150 is worth it, in my opinion. No appointment required, usually in and out in less than 30 minutes. Can't beat it.

Guys....all this talk about easy medicals...and you've got ABXBooger on another thread trying to make the flight physical harder.

Can someone give us the name of an ATL AME that nobody goes to? Maybe that'll make some of the "harder flight physical" crowd happier

Hey everyone has their viewpoint on this issue. For me I go to Dr. Williams cause he is quick and easy. But I also see my regular Doctor who has detailed information on me. I focus on my long term health with him and if any problems pop up he can help me minimize my risks of getting caught in the red tape before I hit the AME and have to deal with the FAA. I completely understand the different viewpoints but the ultimate goal should be to stay healthy if you plan to fly til your 65. If anything pops up you should have both doctors helping you deal with what ever comes your way. Some people see it the other way. I like it this way for another reason. I can differ my costs through my regular doctor and my insurance. I can't do that right now with the AME.
