I have a trip to London / Luton EGGW in a Falcon. coming up in a week. I never see much information about flying there. No threads either. This will be my first trip to London. Ill be using Colt or UVAir for trip planning. Signature is the FBO.

Any advice would greatly appreciated regarding flight planning, customs ATC and handling.

Do they taxi on the wrong side of the taxi way?!

I was there last week. EGGW Signature actually does a very good job. Customs is a breeze and ATC is very "British" but good. Study the arrivals and departures (typical EU....there is about 30 of them for one runway) and watch out for the SLPs on the charts. Clearance is good about giving you a heads up on what departure to expect, though.

Remember stand #56 for parking and enjoy a pint for me,

Make sure your passenger information gets to Signature before you leave. Your handler should do this but check. I think they need 24 notice on the Pax. Stanstead or Farnbourough (sp?) for the alternate.

SLP=Speed limit (ing) point. They will be on the arrival charts. Have you taken an International Operators course? Probably too late for this trip but I would recommend it.

Has your airplane been over there before?

I took an Int Proc Course Aug. 06 at FSI at SAV. They never talked about it. Just MNPS, RVSM, tracks and emergency procedures . I have been across the atlantic 2 times but to Germany on the Blue Spruce Routes 280 and below. Also been to 30 other countries including Russia.

I wish someone would teach a real world IPC. There has to be a 70 year old corporate pilot that knows it all, been there done that, that could teach a course or sell a book.

If you get a chance, be sure to stop by one of the Sushi conveyor places. Always loved the sushi conveyor system.

I think there's a couple in the Knightsbridge area in one of the upscale department stores. Harrods or Harvey Nichols.

Drive into town on the M1 is royal pain the arse. It is still under construction and delays can be lengthy.

Last time I was there for more than 1 night we stayed at the Hilton Tower. Very nice location with decent sights within walking distance. Tube pass is helpful as well.

Enjoy downtown. Of course the food sucks, but still a cool place.

Oh yea, flying is easy as well. Funny thing is, they have these convoluted arrivals and you never actually use them. Last couple of trips we were just vectored in about the path as the arrival.

Guess they do not trust us yanks.

I miss the hilton tower. I'm stuck out at the chesthunt.

This conversion rate sucks.

Now they changed the destination to Stansted EGSS!! Then Geneva later in the week. Any advice???
i got a buddy that swears by Stanstead, although I have never been there. If you are there more than one night I would try to stay downtown London.

We have switched to EGSS as the traffic from Luton is just too much.

If you cannot stay in downtown London might want to give Cambridge a try. College town with some nice pubs and little more going on than around the airport.

There is a Crown Plaza in Cambridge that is more than acceptable for a night or two. Beyond that you need to get into London.

Hey Diesel! (It's a nice day on LKN)

We've been staying at the Sopwell House (St Albans) when we fly into EGGW. Nice place but REAL quite. We'll be in Luton next Sunday if anyone wants to hoist a few pints over bangers and mash.

I know it's nowhere near Lutton [sp] but has anyone been to CAE at Biggins Hill?

Just looking for a good place to stay while i'm doing my recurrant next month.

Brighton or Gatwick?

No "all night" ground school in TEB?

Electricals gotta be a blast for you when your body thinks it is mid-night!
