JamieZX,

I never could find Forest, but Marble, Gunshy and Shuttle Landing in area 2 were a piece of cake.

I did my CFI in Tucson at Double Eagle back in 96. Love the flying in that area. I try to do our VFR Legs in that area between DMA and Willie Gateway on any student cross countries that manage to go west. Unfortunately for you, that part of the world is a little too far west for you CBM guys to get to as students. But, there are plenty of good places around those parts for cross country, most of which you have probably already driven to: ATL, New Orleans, Pensacola, Gulfport-Keesler.

Good luck, you'll find a bit more time at the end of Tweets, use that time wisely and work hard on all that Instrument GK, it is/will be your bread and butter for the rest of your career.

Remember, you guys have the newest Tweets with those 71 models, take care of them.

Meh... Forest isn't THAT hard to find, but I'll grant you that Marble is a hundred times easier and so are the pattern references for 31.

Got my license back in '93 at Avra Valley. (Now Marana Reigonal.) Big difference between Sunfish here and an uncontrolled airport with maybe 1/10th the traffic.

I haven't driven to any of those places yet... you mean I can't go cross-country to D-M? :(

j/k

Anyway... gotta chair-fly some stalls now. Take care!

Oh... and 71 models?!?! HAHAHA On Thursday I flew a '58 and today I flew a '65! I think they save the '71s for the O-5s and O-6s around here. :p

58s are still new

We have 56 models with almost 22,000 hours on them inspite of taking some to the AMARC (boneyard) at DMA to make room for those salad shooting T-6 Texan IIs.

Geez! Seems like everybody on this thread is from this area.

JaimeZX: The Marana Regional pattern is a nice place to watch the heavies come into Pinal. Love that little airport, esp. the old Lockheed Connies and DC-3 parked there.

Tweetdrvr: Double Eagle (aka: "Double Trouble" due to some recent incidents) is getting out of the flight instructing business almost entirely. I guess the chief there wants to do more charter stuff. One of their CFIs (Brian S.) now works across the field at the old Sunwest/Leading Edge building (now, Adventure Flight Training)... do you know him?
