Going to Canada

We are flying there next week and I wanna make sure it goes smoothly.
Let me know what I am missing:
Leaving the US.
Call Canpass and give them arrival time.
Call FSS and file flight plan.
Only need Passports

Returning
Call their FSS and file.
Call US Customs at our destination airport at least 2 hours prior to arrival.
Enter info in APIS.
Crew and Passengers fill out Customs form.

Am I missing anything?
Are there forms for passengers when we enter Canada?

pretty much got it all, I would add: depending on where you re-enter the US when you call that office, ask them if they have any special protocal for their operation, some customs offices want the entire aircraft empty and some others barely make it to the plane to clear you.
no forms for pax arriving in canada, I've been there about a dozen times and only seen an acutal canadian agent twice.
make sure names on customs paperwork and forms match the passports, i.e. no nicknames, we got delayed 45 minutes in HPN for that once.

Assume you are Part 135. Then the follow apply.


One addition on arrivial into Canada:

After you land in Canada, taxi to the FBO, shutdown and call CanPASS again. This is the "we have arrived" call. Do NOT de-plane ANYONE or ANYTHING until you call. If they want to see you or inspect, then they will tell you to wait, give you instructions, agents come to the plane, etc. Might want to also have a General Declaration form for the arrivial into Canada just in case they do want to "see you."


Some additional info on US side:


PAX fill out blue Customs card, one per FAMILY (aunts and sister-in-laws are family)

Each crew member fills out Crew Declaration (8x11 form # 5129).

You will also need to write up a General Declaration (form 7507). List names, DOB and citizenship in the PLACE column.

And, even if Part 91, if you don't have a current customs decal, you can purchase one right there during your first entry stop (have a valid credit card ready.) I think it's like $25.

We always fax US customs the 178 form. I also now ask the US customs arrival what their radiation check procedure is, i.e., full shutdown, APU, pax off, etc. The above advice not to deplane is spot on. I don't even open the door until I get a canpass number or the canadian customs are standing outside. Last, if any of your crew or passengers has a DUI or like conviction, expect big problems.

Hi!

U have to give CANPASS 2 hours notice, minimum. Each airport in Canada has different procedures-great advice to call CANPASS before deplaning, no matter what they told you.

If both parents are not with minors, need letter(s) from parents notarized to take them out of their home country.

Call 800CANPASS when you get on the ground prior to deplaning! Also, Canada differs from the US in their Search and Rescue procedures. S&R will be initiated if you do not contact someone within 30 minutes after proposed departure time if you file a flight plan(the flight plan does not have to be activated) from an uncontrolled field in CAN.
