Question for Employers who hire chopper pilots, ex military guys w/experience, etc....

What would be a better chopper to serve on(Pilot) in the Army to prepare for Civilian life as a Pilot later, and why?

Kiawah,Apache, or Blackhawks?

Helo time is good time

Blackhawk, 2 man IFR cockpit. We have hired a bunch of helo drivers, only one failed training. He was a national guard UH-1 pilot VFR only. I can not say the same for our civilian fixed wing hires. Someone has to figure out why uninformed management knuckleheads don't view a multi-crew Captain time in an advanced IFR helo like the H-60, H-46, H-53 or H-47 as not real flight time. However, PIC in a VFR only C-150 in the traffic pattern is the breakfast of champions for an airline career by those who set hard fixed wing limits and ignore helo time in total time. Why are most management and insurance company’s sooooo waaaayyyy out of touch with reality? Ops I am sorry I was management bashing again.

The problem with helo pilots is that when they want to go around, they push the stick forward.

Yes and on the second sim flight they raise the left arm rest to get back on glide slope, but by sim number four most are better than their non-turbine single pilot sim partners. Nice light control touch, above average situational awareness and understanding of SOP crew duties.

I fly with tons of former helo guys here at FDX, including a former H-53 squadron mate. Some people do give credit for helo time.... but you also have to meet their other requirements. Good Luck!
