As for the 1900 thing, I heard an intersting point of view from one captain I flew with.
As we all know, back in the day there were no "regionals". Most guys flew 1900s, Jetstreams, Metros, or Shorts before moving on to the big guys. Those guys are now quite senior, and many are on the hiring boards. In a sea of RJ pilot applications, the little Beech 1900 might stick out. Anyways, just one guys point of view I guess, but it is something to think about.
I know I get a lot of kudos from major airline types when they hear what I fly.
I went through three phases: First I was excited to get a 121 job, then the koolaid went dry and I wanted the RJ fix, and now I am extremely happy to be flying a T-prop. Commuting on the RJs made me realize its all the same ********************e, with the exception of a longer upgrade (for the most part), more headaches, and a lot more missed nights at home. ...and for the most part, unless you are a captain, the pay ain't that much better.
