i dont think that it had anything to do with Rotor. He was flying in ridge, and it died, and he didnt have an out. thankfully, he lived.

"Almost three hours into a world record attempt flight Dale was forced down by a strong rotor at the top of the ridge close to Snowy Mountain in West Virginia at the south end of the Knobblies."

Dunno but sounds like the guy knows what happened.
