Getting turbine PIC
I'm spinning my wheels racking up SIC in an RJ at a regional with no hope in sight of getting PIC. Anybody know how I can get into the left seat somewhere so I can get that elusive 1000 turbine PIC and then be eligible to apply somewhere that actually pays a good salary? I live in San Diego and don't know where to start when it comes to finding jobs in SoCal.

Finding a PIC turbine job in SoCal??? Don't want to be a rain cloud, however, unless you know someone who can get you a job flying as PIC or you are trained, typed (if required), and are current per the regulations there isn't much out there. Well, unless you want to work for Ameriflight flying Metros getting PIC or even a Cessna Caravan (acceptable PIC time for Southwest).

There are lots of guys in SoCal that were former corporate, furloughed airline, now back on the street with tons of PIC time, taking most of the available jobs. The only thing I can suggest is to blanket every airport with your resume, talk with the line personnel (they know who just got fired, who is looking, etc....they are a valuable source of info). You stated you are in the San Diego area.....you might look up at Carlsbad. Schubach Aviation and Jet Source. Henry Schubach is the owner and does have King Airs....which you would be a good candidate to fly.

of course.....you have to remember....just because you have that magic 1000 PIC turbine doesn't mean Southwest, Air Tran or Jet Blue will start begging you to work for them. Getting 1000 hours PIC in the corporate world could take 2 1/2 to 3 years. Can you wait that long??
