Can't get ahold of my AME, so was wondering if anyone's flown before with swollen tonsils (swollen throat).

Just got over a case of strep throat, and am no longer contagious or feeling the least bit bad, save for the mild-swollen throat.

Have called off the last 2 days of work, but tomorrow I think I'll give it a shot. That is, unless anyone out there has had a bad experience concerning their throat with the pressure changes, dry environment, etc.

Thanks in advance for the experiences.

Strep Throat is about as nasty a thing as I ever want to experience again. I flew unexpectedly with it and had no problems with the pressure changes.

If you are on penicillin and are able to swallow without wanting to kill yourself, I would imagine you would be ok.

People at ASA show up to work sick all the time, but that's due to our sick time policy more than anything else.

What are the consequences if you call in sick again? Will you lose $$ or get in trouble? At ASA, whether you call in sick for one day or a week straight it all counts the same, so it pays to stretch it out.

just to make more clear, Im not sick anymore, NOT contagious, don't feel the least bit under-the-weather. It's just that my tonsils are slow to shrink back down to their original size.

Call in sick. My girlfriend and I have been sick for a little over a week. We've just been giving it to each other, seems like. My tonsils feel like they're going to squeez themselves right out of my throat. And being that I don't like going to the doctor, I think I'll wait until I'm on my deathbed to go, however I'm not going to give this to my co-workers.
