Getting close to SOLO

Mirage, I moved down to fly at OUN 8 months ago and sort of fumbled around a bit before getting things really started, but I've been flying since late April and soloed on May 8th, so it's still fresh in my mind.

It's simply an unforgettable experience. There were some waning thunderstorms off the airport, which made for a pretty dramatic backdrop. My CFI had been talking about if for awhile and I think if anything contributed to my nerves, that sure did, but once he hopped out of the plane I felt as calm and confident as I do driving my own car. Took me till my second touch-and-go for me to realize exactly what I was accomplishing.

At that point, I do believe I began belting out a certain Kenny Loggins tune....hey, I earned that moment of unashamed dorkdom! ;)

Yup!

I always ask myself "Would I lket this guy take my favorite girl around the pattern".................. I still haven't soloed anyone!
