Shouldn't be a problem at all, practically all the majors are in Bankruptcy... It will give you a good "point in common"...argpilot said:does anyone know about getting an job with teh regionals or the mayor with a bankrupt background???
is it posible???
Thankssss
Is that the new trend? Take on a 100,000 in student loans to go to flight school, then file bankruptcy to get out of it?argpilot said:does anyone know about getting an job with teh regionals or the mayor with a bankrupt background???

I thought, but could be wrong, that student loans cannot be included in a bankruptcy.FN FAL said:Is that the new trend? Take on a 100,000 in student loans to go to flight school, then file bankruptcy to get out of it?
I believe you are correct, they changed the law a few years back because people were doing just that, taking out huge loans for school, getting their education (which no one can ever take away from you) and then defaulting on the loans...flyifrvfr said:I thought, but could be wrong, that student loans cannot be included in a bankruptcy.
LOL!!!!!!!!! I love the crystal ball... You do realize if you are wrong (even by 1 quarter) you will never live this down... I know you are basing this on the 10 year cyclical aviation industry, but this certainly doesn't look like Mid-1994 right now... The differences are in 1994 there were hardly any RJ's (most commuters flew Turbo-Props), there was only one real LLC who was of any threat to the legacy's (SWA)... Pre-9/11... There are many things that are different...pilotyip said:It will mid 2007 before any of the legacy carriers start hiring again.
I understand that there is an increasing emphasis being placed on security, but I don't think that this would be something that can be taken into consideration for employment. Yes, there are background checks that are done, but is this included? And if it is, can it be used in determining suitability for employment? I thought no, but someone let me know if I'm wrong.argpilot said:does anyone know about getting an job with teh regionals or the mayor with a bankrupt background???
...but how many pilots were laid off then, as now???pilotyip said:Actually I think things are better than in 1994, there were very few jobs back then, mid 95 into 96 is when hiring started to take off,
Actually, many corporations require a credit check. There is a pretty significant correlation between severe financial difficulties and occupational stress. If you made hiring decisions and had to decide between 2 equally qualified candidates, wouldn't you liike to know if one had to declare personal bankruptcy? While not a direct indicator of job performance, a financial background check simply gives you another known aspect of the unknown.House_X said:It's funny how this question seems to surface from time to time. I find it hard to believe that any airline does a credit checks. Especially with the added costs of security checks combined with airlines cutting back staff and reducing costs. Also, hiring 3rd parties to perform these tasks would also be counter productive to reducing corporate costs.
I don't see anything in the AIM/FARS or any NASA/NTSB research that connects bankruptcy with ones ability to perform the duties of PIC/SIC for an airline. What's next? Full body CAT scans to see which ones will get cancer and which will not? Anyone seen the movie Gattica? Not too far away...
Exactly how much do you think a credit check costs? Wander into a motgage company just to see how much you could qualify for ... thy'll run a credit check for you right then and there. Apply for a Home Depot Credit Card, they run one while you wait and you get a free plastic tool box too. I don't know how much they cost, but whth the casualness that companies order them up, it can't cost too much. So, for very little cost and effort, they get some insight into an applicants judgment and management abilities. No, it won't predict how well they will fly an ILSHouse_X said:I find it hard to believe that any airline does a credit checks.
