another believer, it is coming all the signs are there. It has already started to effect teh lower end of hiring chain. Maximum rate of change on the hirnig curve will be June of 2007. So now is the time to get ready.
Airline pay and bennies suck ass, the fracs are the future of flying careers, $110,611. after 5 years and a 3 week vacation every 4 months at Netjets, 3 week vacation every 3 months after ten years.
And what about freight? Guys at USA Jet, Tradewinds, Atlas, Focus, et al are pulling down some pretty good jack, also get varying destinations, and they get to fly pretty cool equipment, too. Flying freight all over the planet in DC-9s, 747s, or A300s ... that's got ME written all over it.

Hey Yip, you may want to read up on what's happening economically in this country. We're likely headed for a severe consumer/housing led recession in the next year. Consumer spending is already hitting the skids with housing declining and credit cards maxed out. When people can't leverage their home equity any longer, they won't be travelling/vacationing as much as they have been the past few years. Airlines will be in a world of hurt...yet again...
On top of all that add the ever-increasing cost of oil. As it continues to rise, the hurt is going to increase on the airlines not only from the increase in operating costs (gas second only to employee $$), but from a further loss of said cash-strapped customers.
Flic only time will tell, there are some negative signs and a lot of positive signs. All I know is years ending in 8 are great years for finding a job, and years ending in 3 are bad years for finding jobs.
well as fuel goes up then the cost of flight training will go up also. Hopefully people realize that its not worth the cost to get into this career for all the BS involved.

Wait a minute, you've been preaching about the hiring boom of 2007 for a couple of years. Now that 2007 is just around the corner, it's become the hiring boom of 2008?
No no no Asquared, 2008 is still the year, but we will see it start in 2007 and peak in 2008 or 2009. The maximum rate of change of the acceleration of hiring will occur in June of 2007.
Oh Yip! You're killing me here! You're spinning this whole thing politician-style. That makes me sad. The one thing you had going for you on this "2007 hiring boom" thing was consistency. Now you've thrown it all away! I, for one, feel cheated. 2008?! 2009!!!! Those aren't the magic years! It always ends in a 7, remember!!?
Bluto it is still the same thing, the boom will run from 07 to 09, being centered on 08. Much like you can expect maximum headwinds at FL330, but you will see them from FL300 to FL360. June on 07 defines the start date.
