Hello to all. This is my first post and I look forward to hearing from you and my thanks to a student I worked with recently who guided me to this site! And bear with me....totally green here.
My question is this....I am a sim instructor for a recurrency co. and have been for over three years while I have pursued a four year degree and all of my ratings at a major university (graduate in May..yea me). As I prepare to put together my first resume..and in the future as it is updated with more flight time...how will all of the instructing I have done in the simulator be viewed by those receiving my resume and how should I highlight it? (over 4000 hours dual given...instrument currency and LOFT flight scenarios for light and cabin class twins, KA's and some high perf. singles) I have worked with some great guys (and a couple gals) current, furloughed and retired airline, 135, regional, corporate, as well as the docs and lawyers and weekend warriors.....(scares the hades out of me at times....do you know who is flying in your sky? lol) ....some of whom are great networking contacts and full of advice. But I wanted to open this up to the forum for even more as I prepare to launch my flying career. I know its all sim time and it doesn't mean much...but i'll tell you all this...I have learned a heck of a lot more than my 300 + hours may indicate teaching in the box. It has to mean something. So for those of you in the know...I would appreciate any input... I have been reading as many threads as I can so far and it is great...I look forward to your replies! oh...have all my ratings cept' ATP too

First of all, welcome to Flightinfo. Always good to see someone new around here.

As for the sim instructing time, it is certainly not worthless. I had about 1500-2000 hours of dual given in both Frasca and non-motion BE1900 sims. I couldn't list it as dual given on the resume, but you can make a note of it on the resume. Most likely the interviewer will ask you about it and you can explain how much you learned by instructing in the sim.

You're going to have to build more actual flight time to actually get an interview though. You can't use the sim instruction to meet the minimums that the regionals have. However, once you get the flight time and start interviewing, it is something that will set you apart from the other applicants. Every little thing helps.
