Easiest way is to take a cab but it'll cost you. Last time I did Heathrow to the East End of London, it was about 60 pounds. Cheapest but more time consuming is the Coach Service. Just make sure it's going counter-clockwise around the M25 or you'll be on it for an eternity.
Personally I'd take the Victoria Express from Gatwick to Victoria Train Station. Get on the Picadilly line tube and stay on it until the end at Heathrow. Then catch a cab to the Mariott or a van, if they provide one. Sorry I can't remember how to get on the Picadilly line from Victoria, it's been a while since I lived there.
Like Kenny said, take the Victoria Express to Victoria. From here you can take the tube. Circle line to Paddington. Heathrow Express to Heathrow. 1 hr 20 mins total. 30 pounds. Or take circle line to south kensington and get on the Picadilly line to the airport. Make sure you take the airport one and not the Rayner's Lane one. About 2 hours and 20 pounds.
National Express is the coach service that goes direct LGW to LHR. About 20 pounds one way. From LHR airport station the city buses are free to LHR Marriott. Just ask at the bus stop and someone will know the correct number to get on.
Never pay the Hotel Hoppa bus to get to or from the airport, it's a rip off, especially going to the LHR Marriott as the city bus stop is right out front. Getting back to the airport you have to cross the street and wait at the city bus stop down by the intersection. A slight hassle if you have big bags with you.
