For NJA there are no longer any "gateways".

There are Domiciles and HBA's (Home Basing Airports).

HBA's are for pilots on property prior to contract ratification in November.

Domiciles are the cities the company is forcing newhires to report to work at now.

There are 5 Domiciles.

LAX
PBI
CMH
DAL
TEB

Flight Options and Flexjet both also use the term "Gateway".

Loosely interpreted, it means the airport one starts his/her tour of duty from.

Depending on the company, it can be any airport which meets certain airline criteria, or it can be only a fixed set of airports.

I think it would be a descent call sign if it wasn't used by such a scumbag operation- I'm talking about the airline, not the fractionals who use the term for their pilot bases.

There are some guys buying tix on Southwest to commute to LAX that I have talked to, but at least one has already quit. I'm sure there are others, but it is an expensive way of doing things on first year pay- even if only twice a month on the way in.

We made awesome strides in this contract...

But this job still is not good enough (with what F/O pay is) to commute by buying a ride on XYZ Air.

Maybe when the numbers get lousy enough, mamagement will reconsider the jumpseat protocols our Union Jumpseat Committee worked hard on.

Maybe not... either way, it's their call now and it's your choice.
