Several times I've had my G5 appear to not power up. This happened right after delivery even while at CubCrafters and their avionics tech said to pull out the G5 and remove the backup battery and reconnect causing it to power cycle. This worked and it's happened to me several times in a year and a half. I later learned from an online search that if this happens simply press and hold the power button for 10 or more seconds and that will cause the unit to reboot. The last time this happened I did that and it worked great.
I think the issue may be caused by powering on avionics and then shutting off avionics power before the G5 could complete it's startup such as if you're checking some number on something else. I've been careful anytime the G5 is powered on to not cut power until I know the G5 has completely started up and with that process I've yet to experience the issue again.
So again, if you have a blank G5 press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to force a reboot.
