Word from the Las Vegas Business Journal is that G4 is going to ----- out the LAS ramp work in May. G4 has proven they know how to make money, but one has to wonder if this is a sign of growing pains catching up with there massive expansion. Convetional Wisdom points to "less than favorable" in regards to G4 farming out ramp at there largest station and home base.

I think it's alligant... why people can't just write the name of the airline is beyond me. It's so much cooler to speak in code!

This is a terrible idea. Not only are they firing some really good ground workers, but they keep doing things to "save money" and it ends up costing more in the long run. We've seen similar scenarios a half dozen times in recent years and more often than not they backfire.

Um yeah, like the current ground workers have never caused aircraft damage before. If it saves some money and keeps them profitable.....so be it.

Good point caveman. As stated before this went real bad for Alaska a few years ago. One can only assume the ramp crews were going to go union so the company relieved themselves of that problem. Of course, there will be 10 more to take their place. In addition, the "transition" of the MD80s to a company owned by a certain individual raises questions as well. Its an interesting time at Allegiant.

The ground workers hadn't even spoken to a union rep. Rumors of them wanting to unionize are nothing more than rumors. Besides, outsourcing them to another company does not prevent them from unionizing and costing Allegiant a lot more money. It's more likely that the company was trying to save money and avoid risk with their liability insurance.
