Small Plane Skids Off Runway At Teterboro

Gulfstream 200 Skidded Off Runway With 3 Passengers On Board; No Injuries Reported

TETERBORO, N.J. (CBS) ―A small plane landing at Teterboro Airport with three people on board skidded off the runway and became stuck in mud, CBS 2 HD has learned.

The plane, a Gulfstream 200 owned by BB & T Finance Corp. out of Charlotte, N.C., made its descent over Teterboro around 9:45 Thursday morning.

The three passengers managed to escape the plane without injury.

The airport is open while crews work on towing the plane from the mud.

Please stay tuned to CBS 2 and WCBSTV.com for more on this developing story.

Will be interesting to learn what happened. Looks like a nice day weather-wise in TEB.

My vote is on the tower only having the runway with a 20kt tailwind open. Seen this before with all the runway closures up there.

If someone lands a jet with a true 20kt tailwind - well, lets just say that would be a tough one to talk your way out of. I looked at the historical METAR's shortly after this happened. Winds seemed to be light and variable.

I am just a young fledgeling and told I don't know much
by my X-MotoroXX Captain, but is it not true that most or all jets have a 10 knot tail wind limitation for landing?

Your fired!

<<but is it not true that most or all jets have a 10 knot tail wind limitation for landing?>>

Yes, very common.

Yes, that is true...most, but not all....

Not uncommon for some of the larger birds...those used in the 121 world, to have a 15kt TWC limit.

But at the end of day, it's all academic. Regardless of what the certification limit is for landing with a tail wind component, you still must have ENOUGH PAVEMENT TO STOP!!!!

HELOOO....McFly....HELLOOOO!!!

Didn't someone say that the METAR indicated that the winds were light and variable?
