This are some questions for your G200 guys...

Do any of you guys know which serial number was the first to use the Collins FMS as opposed to the Universal UNS1-C? For you guys who have flown both, what are your thoughts of the one compared to the other?

Do they give you an option now? Dassault took away the options in the 2000EX pre EASy. It was Collins or another airplane.

As far as the Collins vs Universal. The Collins is much more powerful, though I must admit it takes a bit to get used to coming from a Universal.

We looked very closely at the 200 back about the time the FMS change was made. Somewhere around s/n 50 to 52 the Collins became the only FMS available. It's definitely more advanced than the Universal, but nowhere near the Honeywell.
BTW--we passed on the 200 mainly on its record of poor reliability at the time and terrible high/hot numbers. I've heard it is much better now--reliability that is. It still can't depart ASE or EGE and meet 2nd seg requirements. Too bad, because it has a great cabin and the guys I have talked to who fly it say it has fantastic performance as long as you stay out of the mountains.

Thanks for the input...
I've got about 600 hours in one of the early serial numbers with the UNS1-Cs, but the boss is talking about one of the later serial numbers - and I was just wondering where the change entered into the picture.

Ditto ... And oh yea, it is REALLY noisey in the front and back.

What did you end up with?

We ran all the numbers and, since we already operated a G4, decided to go with a frac G4. Couldn't be happier with the whole situation now. RE: the noise. Couple of demos in the G200. Really noisy up front...in fact I think it was noiser than the LR24 I flew many years ago. But, the cabin was definitely the quietest one I have ever been in.

G200

I am not qualified to speak of technical issues, but on the passenger comfort size the G200 is wonderful. We have had several NJA upgrades to the G200, and it is a large, wide, tall cabin, with lots of room and amenities. We think it is preferable to the C-X by far (and seats 9 not 8 in NJA configurations with more cargo room). At NJA prices, the G200 costs less to buy but a little more to operate than the C-X. Maintenance and reliability is not so much my problem. Just my 2 cents.

Fly safe.

That is a hoot. You are getting screwed if you are using the G-200. According to Gulfstream your DOC's in the G-200 should be around $900-1000 an hour. This should hold true given the fact that all the airplanes are still under warranty and burns about 1700 lbs/hour. I am sure that the Cit-X is MUCH higher. If I were you I would have a LONG talk with NetJets about this.
