SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) - Delta Air Lines will put the expansion of its low-fare carrier Song on hold, according to a published report.
A story in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal early Thursday, citing company (DAL, Trade) officials, reported the airline has shelved plans to take the carrier nationwide and will review the entire business in coming months as it looks for ways to further cut costs.
Delta officials could not be reached for comment on the report.
The Journal quoted John Selvaggio, president of Song, as saying the carrier's role may change after the review. "(I)t may be larger, it may be smaller. It's not really decided," he said.
Delta shares fell 15 cents on Wednesday to close at $9.70.
I can't wait until they start blaming the pilots for high costs....after all is has to be thier fault!
Why doesn't somebody in the news media focus on the fact that having five seperate management teams (DAL, Song, DCI, ASA, and Comair) under one roof may have something to do with the lack of profit.
