http://i.cnn.net/money/images/dot.gifhttp://i.cnn.net/money/images/dot.gifNEW YORK (CNBN) - Boeing Co. is reportedly in talks with Delta Air Lines in the hopes of working out an agreement in which the carrier would buy all of its future jetliners from the aerospace giant.
Delta is finalizing the decision process as to whether it wants to buy as many as 100 aircraft valued at $6 billion, the Wall Street Journal said Saturday.
Both Boeing and Brasil's Embraer Co. have been working hard to secure the contract and Boeing has indicated that it expects a decision to be made soon.
Neither the Seattle-based Boeing nor Delta would comment on the talks.
Delta was expected to place an order for about two dozen large Boeing 787 DreamLiner's valued at about $2.7 billion. It is also considering buying another 70 or more smaller airliners, such as Boeing's 737-600 or Embraer's E190, valued at about $3.3 billion.
But in recent talks, Boeing has been pushing to get Delta into an agreement under which the carrier would buy all jet aircraft from Boeing at guaranteed prices, the Journal said.
Boeing secured such an agreement earlier this week with Virgin America, which signed an initial deal to acquire 103 jets valued at $6.5 billion. That agreement also included "purchase rights" for Virgin America to buy an additional 427 airplanes at guaranteed prices if Delta were to liquidate.
Boeing's stock finished down 1/4 to 106-1/8 Monday on the New York Stock Exchange, while Delta Air Lines' stock closed at .63, a gain of .02.
Could this be a bogus article? Who knows, but we need to focus on current scope issues. Erosion of scope equals a NOPE. BTW, I think this is a fake article.
Bye Bye--General Lee
