I’m watching the live press conference from the New York city hall shooting. This guy ( I think the New York City Major?) giving the official briefing says

"City council members and the mayor have not been going through the magnetometer (metal detector). The same way pilots and flight attendants don’t have to go through the magnetometers at airports"

This was in reference as to how someone smuggled a gun into the City Hall in New York. I offer my condolances to the Two victims of the shooting, but didnt appreciate the Un-true plug against airport security. People need to feel safe flying, and this is how rumors get started. How is it that everything is always directly or indirectly negative towards pilots?

I was thinking the same thing when I heard them say that too...

I just about choked on my dinner when I heard this.

Guess he hasn't spent much time in the (airline) terminal.

He's got his own jet, I' sure. Being mayor of NYC, controling interest in Bloomberg Financial, it must be nice.

Wish I was one of those pilots who didn't go through the detectors.

-Boo!

What second victim? The second victim was the assailant. Shot dead by police and rightfully so.

This incident highlights two important things that correlate directly to airport screening methods AND armed airline pilots. If everybody isn't screened, there is a grave danger of someone getting a unauthorized weapon into the secured area and being armed and professionally trained, is no guarantee an attacker can't kill you.

Here is an article highlighting the fact that security was breeched by lax protocol, that DAVIS was ARMED and that his attacker was the SECOND SHOOTING VICTIM.
