The following is from Michael Moore's book entitled "Stupid White Men" He wrote this after learning what a regional pilots salery consists of:

"...I did not want to get on that plane. You see, there's something about us humans and our basic animal instincts for survival--and one of those instincts, probably traceable back to the caveman days is: Never, ever let someone fly you up in the air who's making less than the guy at Taco Bell"

"I don't know about you, but I want the people taking me with them to defy natures most powerful force--gravity--to be happy, content, confident, and well paid....When I'm at 30,000 feet I do not want the minds of the pilots or the attendents to be occupied with how they're going to get the heat and lights turned on once they get back home tonight, or which Bob's Big Boy they're going to have to stick up in order to make the monthly rent. And what's the lesson for the flying public? Be nice to people on welfare--they may be flying you to Buffalo."

From "Stupid White Men" by Michael Moore, pg. 48/49

Perfect!

Too funny!

Great!

Actually something I do agree with him on for once. On most issues, he is so far left, he makes Democrats look right wing

ironic

It is sort of ironic that such an America hater as Michael Moore isn't more notrious. Here is a link to his 'thoughts' he published the day after Sept 11. Some of the 'interesting' parts are excerpted below.

http://www.michaelmoore.com/2001_0912.html

"Am I being asked to believe that this guy who sleeps in a tent in a desert has been training pilots to fly our most modern, sophisticated jumbo jets with such pinpoint accuracy that they are able to hit these three targets without anyone wondering why these planes were so far off path?

Or am I being asked to believe that there were four religious/political fanatics who JUST HAPPENED to be skilled airline pilots who JUST HAPPENED to want to kill themselves today?

Maybe you can find one jumbo jet pilot willing to die for the cause — but FOUR? Ok, maybe you can — I don’t know." Michael Moore, Sept 12th

"We abhor terrorism — unless we’re the ones doing the terrorizing.

We paid and trained and armed a group of terrorists in Nicaragua in the 1980s who killed over 30,000 civilians. That was OUR work. You and me. Thirty thousand murdered civilians and who the hell even remembers!

We fund a lot of oppressive regimes that have killed a lot of innocent people, and we never let the human suffering THAT causes to interrupt our day one single bit.

We have orphaned so many children, tens of thousands around the world, with our taxpayer-funded terrorism (in Chile, in Vietnam, in Gaza, in Salvador) that I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised when those orphans grow up and are a little whacked in the head from the horror we have helped cause." Michael Moore, Sept 12th

"PS. Three days ago, I learned from someone at ABC News that ABC had videotape -- an angle of the second plane crashing into the tower -- that showed an F-16 fighter jet trailing the plane at a distance.

I have not shared this with you as I had not personally witnessed that tape myself and did not want to contribute to all the unsubstantiated rumors. It just came across on the TV that the government admitted they did dispatch fighter jets when they knew the planes were off course.

From this point, I will pass on any censored information to those of you in the mainstream media who are being blocked from reporting. " Michael Moore, Sept 14th

And there is plenty MOORE where that came from. This guy is infamous as one of the blame America firsters. Didn't have any problem with the Soviets when they were threatening the world and killing their own people. Doesn't have any problem with Castro now, he's a socialist you see, so Castro must be an enlightened leader that brings health care and education to his people. No food mind you, and his doctors don't have any drugs, but hey, look how many doctors they have.

Anyway, don't mean to get preachy, but this guy is the worst kind of media liberal and it is somewhat disheartening to see people buying his book. Some liberals I can respect but some, well, hmm, read his stuff and see what you think of him yourself.

Michael Moore is a commie pinko liberal. Not many people can earn that title, but he certainly does.

My point with the orginal post was point out what 414Flyer said. I just thought it was interesting that he wrote about some of the struggle of being a regional pilot (a friend had pointed it out to me). He does have some very interesting views, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him an "american hater". Anyhow, I didn't mean to turn this into a political board........back to flying!!

Michael Moore is a freakin idiot!!

Oh. and by his thinking, isn't the title "Stupid White Men" just a little racist? Very Un-Politically Correct of him. Oh yeah, you can say stuff like that about whites, but anyone else and you're being "offensive". I wonder what he thinks about U.S. troops setting those in concentration camps free back in WWII. Probably thinks that was all a hoax!

not to prolong this, but Moore's reason for pointing out atrocities committed by the U.S. is not to rally people into hating the U.S. It's to help them realize (since the media doesn't) that our country is not the sparkly clean model of modern civilization like we think. Nor is any country, for that matter. Just like we shouldn't forget the U.S. POW's, we shouldn't forget the dead Nicaraguan civilians. Remember the good AND the bad, and try to improve.

Governments and cultures are works in progress. I hate it when people say "America: Love it or leave it". How about "Love it AND make it better".

>>Governments and cultures are works in progress. I hate it when people say "America: Love it or leave it". How about "Love it AND make it better".

How about, "If you hate it, then leave it."?

We had some choices in Nicaragua, just like anywhere else. We tried to stem the tide of Communism by helping those who were opposed to it. Would the same civilians have been killed if we had not assisted? I'd say yes, although it certainly would have taken much longer.

Also, we have a fixed definition of a combatant and a non-combatant. In many cultures, combatants INCLUDE women and children (remember how kids would walk into a crowd of GI's in VietNam, and set off grenades that mommy and daddy had straped to them, killing the GI's?) unlike the way WE think of cambatants: uniformed soldiers, no younger than a certain age, etc.

When I was a liberal journalist, I never conceived of someone like Moore. In my estimation, he truly has earned the term "America hater". In true form, when HIS OWN life is on the line, he cares a LOT about who is flying the plane, just as you don't find Maxine Waters living in the ghetto next to a street gang. When it's THEIR ox being gored, it's a different matter, altogether.
