Requirements:
  • Commercial and instrument rated and current;
  • 550 hours total time;
  • 300 hours in Cessna high wing, tricycle gear aircraft;
  • US Citizenship;
  • No criminal record;
  • Clean driving record;
  • Familiarity with the Washington, DC area.
Comair graduates and those with prior experience in a similar operation who do not have the minimum hours will be considered and are invited to apply.

What we're looking for is a blend of knowledge, intuitive skills and judgment that can come only from making your own decisions in the real world. In short, you need to be real sharp. And we know how to tell the difference.

You will be flying 1977-1980 Cessna 172's that are IFR certified and equipped with dual nav/com radios, a glide slope, DME, audio panel, Tanis preheaters, and built-in intercoms. These aircraft are dedicated to this operation, and not subject to the abuses of primary training.

Important: Please already be in the DC area. Don't call and tell me you're moving here; move here first, then call me. Please also understand that, because of where we are and what we're doing there are things that just have to be the way they are. I cannot use anyone who is not a US citizen or who is going to have a problem with a background check. Bugging me on this doesn't get you a better chance, it just tells me that you can't follow instructions. Save yourself the phone call.

Please also understand that I cannot, under any circumstances, use someone who's fresh out of ERAU. Just because they told you that you know everything doesn't mean it's true. Been there & done that. I've been disappointed by enough of these people to crew an entire airline.

Type "A" personalities and/or those with ego problems should also look elsewhere.

These are contract positions offering weekday work and the opportunity to build hours quickly in decent airplanes and a comfortable work environment without having to put up with the uncertainties and aggravation of instructing. Liability and workers compensation insurance are supplied. As long as you can follow instructions, I'll stay out of your hair and everybody will have a good time. Please understand that I'm not trying to be difficult; I just know what works and what doesn't and I don't want to waste your time and mine.

The upside is that if you do well here, you can go anywhere. I've got former traffic pilots working at a number of airlines, corporate flight departments and charter operations. They know how I work, who I hire, and what I expect and they tend to call here when they're looking for pilots.

I need to have someone in place and ready to go by February 21, so we're under the gun. If you're interested and qualified or you have questions, please to send email. Resumes in Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF formats may be attached.

LMAO!!! :D

That's right if you can fly my 172 you can go anywhere!! (its ifr equiped you know). I am working on a flow thru to a major airline that you could be hired as a street captain in a heavy. and dont forget dont call me untill you have moved here, the moving expenses are a small price to pay to be considered to fly my IFR 172.

Do they require a C-172 type rating as well to fly there probably old and junky planes, what a bunch of dopes!!

Wow, so they are hiring people as street captians, how long is the upgrade time here? How about perdiem? Sounds like a good place to go to. I'm glad some companys knows what 500hr pilots who are too good to teach are good for......

What are the odds that somebody in recruitment from Comair (er..I mean Delta Connection) Academy has already seen this and is using it to show potential students "how well respected the Delta Connection Academy name is in the industry". If D.M. is still there I'm sure she would have a field day with this new Academy propaganda.............

This guy posts the same **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** add about 2-3 times a year, with a bit more crap every time. When I was freshly minted as a CFI, I called this fellow up and could tell right away that he was a real tool. He was in love with his way of doing things. I guess thats fine, but they have quite a turn over rate at this place, and I can see why.

I don't have an ego problem; I just find all other Skyhawk pilots inferior to me...

Not Too Bad a Gig

I actually fly traffic for this operation right now, and it is a pretty cool gig. The planes are all maintained by mechanics on the field, and I have never sqwaked anything and gone back up with out it being taken care of. Plenty of hours to build time, and a pretty fun job flying around/inside the DCA FRZ.

I've seen this ad before. i'm thinking of seeing if I can do it PT while sitting reserve in DC. I used to fly traffic in college and loved it. Maybe I could recoupe my driving to DC and crashpad expenses.

F16TJ - smells like a trap, as I sincerely doubt you are looking to fly traffic, but if you are truly interested give him a call. He can give you all the info you need. There are 5 different runs a day. The first one starts at 6am and the last one ends at 7pm. Some are 3 hrs, some are 2 hrs. It beats instructing, for the most part because you fly 3hrs, in a 4hr period(preflight, filing flight plans etc), whereas with instructing, you fly 3hrs in a 6-7hr period....
