So, it's an overpriced plastic gas pig with fixed gear that has a glass cockpit like any other new plane with the highest accident rate of any new airplane.

I'll take a Lancair or Mooney Bravo/Ovation anyday.

My next toy will be a new Diamond twin.

jA KNOW VAT, i know its over priced, lethal, and plasticy, but that doesnt mean its not cool. edited for sleep decendy

Sorry if I came across Grumpy, but I hate that POS airplane. There are sooo many superior aircraft for a lot less money. Too each his own I guess.

BTW, the door seals on that plane I think are made by the same engineers at YUGO.

BTW, what do you think is so cool about it? Most airplanes built recently have all those goodies, what makes the Cirrus so special? It's useful range and load is pathetic considering it's price.

I thought the video was cool cuz I aint flown anything newer than 1981

I understand then, get a ride in a Vans RV 10 and you'll never look back. They have free demo rides at Oshkosh, as a matter of fact, go up in a Lancair IVP and you'll never want to fly in anything else again.

Sorry for coming across a bit abrasive but I truely dispise that Cirrus POS.

The highest accident rate seems to have little to do with the airplane itself, if you've followed every Cirrus accident, as I have. It's also the newest airplane with the highest production rate & sales, which can account for a higher accident rate.

Does not matter though, as I'm a real fan and owner of a Van's RV, as you've made mention of, in another reply. Even a Mooney seems like a bloated pig, compared to an RV.

Have you ever flown an SR22, Lancair, or Bravo/Ovation or is this opinion from reading magazines and websites?

Are the SR22s and SR20 loud inside? The only plane I have flown to where you don't have to ware a headset is our comanche.

The only plane I haven't flown is the Bravo, I have flown most of the RV's, my freind owns an 8.

Gas pig? If you lean it back to LOP, you only lose about 10 knots (end up at 173kts true) and you go from 18 GPH to about 12 to 14 GPH. I've done 5 hour legs in it with 1.5 hours left in the tanks. Flew nonstop from PDX to LAX in a 22.

I've also picked up brand new SR-22GTS's from the factory I will go on record as saying that they are amazing pieces of machinery. Cirrus has done an amazing job with its product line over the years. The accident rate has nothing to do with the airplane and frankly, I don't think one can compare an RV to a Cirrus. 2 totally different niches and market segments.

Just my $.02.

Cirrus shmirus

God how I hate the Cirrus !

When the last Cirrus is sitting in a pile of dust somewhere there will be a 59' 210 flying overhead !

NICE METRO

SHIAAAT I have a hard time setting the attitude indicator, radios, vor, and altimeter on the 172's.

Seems to be a plane that people either hate or love.. sure there's a lot of other planes for the same price, just depends what you want in it. The only one I've flown is the 22GTS, but it seemed like a decent airplane with good performance and lotsa toys in it. I'm taking a wild guess, but I'm wondering if most of the Cirrus accidents have something to do with low time pilots flying more airplane than they need. From what I've seen their marketing centers on how easy it is to fly and oh yeah, if you get in trouble just pull that big handle in the ceiling. I heard "how easy it is to fly" quite a few times when they were trying to sell a SR22GTS to my 8hr total time student.

I have approx 30 hours in a Sr22G2 (as a safety pilot). Coming from a strictly Cessna only background, I was pretty impressed. Very neat instruments and goodies, perhaps maybe too many? Would i spend that kind of money on a four place?... Probably not. I dunno if TDTurbo has ever flown in one but if not like they say," don't knock'em till you try them." As far as "cirrus pilots" go, just like pilots of any aircraft you'll have good ones and bad ones. I think its the parachute that buys the wifes vote though. LOL...

Hi!

OK, so the Cirrus is a piece of crap.

Later, when we have enough money, I want to buy a plane. Where is the RV6/8/10 factory? I want to buy a brand new one, fresh off the assembly line and built by a professional. Oh, I forgot, you can't get one.

I could hand build a 4-door sedan and save myself a lot of money, but I'd rather save the 20 years of building it and buy one off the Toyota lot, thank you.

And, you're right, there are so many choices other than a brand new Cirrus. You can buy a 1950 Cessna, or a 1950 Piper, or a 1950 Mooney, or a 1950 Beechcraft.

I think there's a reason that the local Toyota and GM dealers aren't selling 1950 model cars as brand new ones these days. Can you imagine, "Oh, but our 1950 Plymouth has a GPS navigation unit in it." So I'm going to pass up a new hybrid-drive brand new Toyota SUV for the 1950 Plymouth with a video screen in it?

The guy who started Adam Aircraft originally was planning on building a SE fixed-gear four seater, but when he studied the market, he realized that he would not be able to compte with Cirrus, because they basically had perfected the platform in that market.

Also, what about the chute? Of course highly skilled and professional pilots would never need it, but most guys buying it are older, and if they have a heart attack, their spouses can pull the chute and land safely, even if they don't know how to fly. That's a HUGE selling point that most pilots don't know about.

In my house if the CEO likes it, it gets purchased.

The SR22 is fun! More so than any other plane i've flown (Baron 55 is very close though)

It's all about selling planes anyways.

Mooney/Lancair/Piper/Beech/Socata must feel like crap because they all got spanked at the game.

The aircraft that I would like to fly is that little Robin aircraft, which can carry 4 adults in comfort at a higher speed than the PA-38 or C-152 while using the same engine...

Fun Cirrus Flight (with video)

I went flying with a friend in his SR22 and happened to bring along the video camera. After a quick edit with Windows Movie Maker, posted the result
HERE . Hope you enjoy, and have a great weekend all!

Funny, this was acutally posted by somone else like a week ago, and I recall seeing you post this on a flight sim forum. Small world.
