Fuel prices are ALWAYS a concern, no matter how high they are.

Our dispatchers always have shopped for the best fuel/contract fuel deals. Get a good deal? tanker when its prudent.

As far as flying less etc....no way....Our department will break 5000hrs of flying this year - more than ever. If anything, flying is up - regardless of fuel prices...

and thats a good thing...

5000 hrs of flying in a year. Did you mean that much? I am not trying to be a smart a$$ but that seems like a lot for one year. How many airplanes do you have in your flight dept?

no, thats OK.

we currently have 7.

We tanker a lot of fuel. Our cost is around $1.54 per gallon. Colt is around $3.00 per gallon if you have to buy it. Full price around $4.00 per gallon, it's a no brainer, tanker if you can.

As of Friday fuel out of our farm averaged $1.47 a gallon. Last week in KSNA paid $3.25 with the 1000 gallon discount and in KALB thursday paid $3.82 a gallon, the csa in KALB told me that they were recently at $4.07.... seems outrageous to me. Thankfully it hasn't slowed us down any......YET! What are some of the prices you guys/gals are seeing?

Our flying is actually increasing, even with the higher fuel prices. I don't think higher jet A prices are going to effect a large flight department's flying hrs., unless prices go drastically up (and then the whole country is in trouble).

We are tankering alot more and setting up "World Fuel" contracts when available.

My pet peeve, is FBOs, that are the sole fuel supplier at an airport. Examples are, Jim's Air in KSAN and Sig. in KCLT. These places are ripping their customers off in my opinion!! And they have a monopoly......so much for capitalism. Does anyone else agree w/ me?

We paid $4.20 a gallon a Signature JAX 2-weeks ago. It has, as still does, amaze me that it's $4+ a gallon in a "port" city yet I can go to nowhere Kansas and still get it for under $2/gallon. Go figure...

Signature and Trajen at Austin are both high (although not $4/gal - yikes!) because there's no real competition there. If you can convince the boss, land at Llano (KAQO) and get Jet A for $2.20/gal. Then load up on BBQ!

Never forget that the core of Signature used to be Butler Aviation. Enough said!

Signature seems to have the highest jet A prices and the highest fees anywhere we go. That is why we never use them unless they are the only thing on the field.

Seeing $3 + as common around the southeast. We are paying around 2.50 at our home base(Even with a large discount). Running across 4+ more and more in the bigger cities with the Signature monopolies.

We avoid Signature like the plague if possible.

Needless to say "Tanker" is the word if possible.

Prices have not affected our flight time yet.
