Frontier Airlines Reports Traffic for December 2003 (Jan. 7, 2004)
DENVER (Jan. 7, 2004) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced preliminary traffic results for December 2003. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 37.4 percent to 484,634,000 for December 2003 from the same period last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 23.5 percent to 655,388,000 for December 2003 from the same period last year. This resulted in a load factor for December 2003 of 74.0 percent, an increase of 7.5 points from December 2002, when the airline reported a load factor of 66.5 percent. The airline carried 518,666 passengers during December 2003, a 33.1 percent increase from December 2002. The airline reported passenger yield of 11.55 cents for the month of December 2003, a decrease of 6.7 percent from the same period last year. Its passenger Revenue per Available Seat Mile (RASM) was 8.54 cents, up .31 cents or 3.8 percent from December 2002.

"The month of December was a great month as we carried more passengers than any month in the history of the airline," said Sean Menke, senior vice president of marketing. "However, even with the strong year-over-year December quarter improvement of 13.0 points in load factor and 13.6 percent in unit revenue, continued high fuel prices have adversely impacted our cost per available seat mile (CASM) for our fiscal third quarter."
