Frontier Airlines Reports Fiscal Second Quarter 2005 Results
Frontier Airlines, Inc. today reported a net loss of $2.1 million, or $.06 per diluted common share, for the airline's fiscal second quarter ended September 30, 2004 compared to net income of $2.0 million, or $0.06 per diluted common share, for the same period last year. Frontier President and CEO Jeff Potter said, "As an industry, we continue to find ourselves in an environment with record-high fuel prices and one of the most difficult yield environments that Frontier and the industry have ever faced. In spite of these challenges, Frontier and its 4,500 employees continued to do what we have always done in the face of adversity-we maintained focus on our costs and factors we can control, and we continue to make improvements to our product."

The loss looks reasonable in todays environment compared to UAL,DAL's whopping losses. I was scheduled for a Sept. interview that was cancelled UFN. Any word on how the new hourly pay and scheduling is working? Is the 73 retraining issue, clogging the pipes? When the dust finally settles, I hope they hire a few.

Ride'em hard put'em up wet

Keep tredding!!

I think that between internal training and the added efficency of the hourly pay scale it will be a while before any new hires hit the property :(

That having been said... this IS aviation and things do change FAST :) F9 is small enough to change course quickly, and take advantage of opportunities in the marketplace as they present themselves.

That's the long way of saying that I have no freeking clue, but don't give up hope. It will eventually happen -we will need to hire with our current fleet plan!

The hourly rate increased efficiency, but I think F9 still needs to hire. In fact F9 just rec'd two new airbuses this week.

I heard from a Check Airman, that classes should start in January.

Good Luck!

Here is my best guess fellas:

The current plan, barring any significant industry changes, will allow Frontier to take the next 4 to 5 Airbus deliveries without adding any new pilots. The announcement of retiring the Boeings early will bottleneck the training department (transitions) through the early part of the year.

Now, reality indicates that there will be significant changes in the industry before next spring. That being said, I think opportunities will surface requiring a fair amount of new-hire activity after the first of the year. All indications point toward the fleet plan of 62 to 85 aircraft staying on track. We will definately have to hire to crew aircraft deliveries beyond the 52nd aircraft.
