Frontier Files to Expand its Popular Cancun Service with Additional Point-to-Point Flights (June 17, 2004)

Denver Airline Files for Permission to Fly Non-Stop to Cancun From Nashville, Austin and St. Louis

DENVER, Colo (June 17, 2004) - Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced its intention to expand its Mexico service by offering non-stop service to Cancun (CUN). Following Frontier's recent announcement that it received approval for flights from Cancun to Salt Lake City (SLC) and Kansas City (MCI), today's announcement, if approved, could bring the total number of Frontier cities with non-stop service to/from Cancun to six. The Company has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for authorization to serve Cancun, Mexico from Nashville International Airport (BNA) three times a week, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) once a week and it has re-applied for service to/from Lambert-St.Louis International Airport (STL) for service three times a week.

"Mexico continues to be a strong destination for Frontier," said Sean Menke, senior vice president of marketing. "Passenger bookings and the word-of-mouth excitement generated from our recent announcement of new non-stop service to Cancun from Kansas City and Salt Lake City underscores the fact that there is demand for non-stop service to the beautiful beaches of Cancun. We feel that Frontier has an opportunity to answer that demand with one of the best products available in the industry including new aircraft with 24 channels of LiveTV, 33 inches of leg room and the industry's best employees providing unparalleled customer service."

If granted authority from the DOT, the Cancun service would begin on November 7, 2004.

Well not really!! The 319 has longer legs than the 320 thus making trans con in the winter somewhat doable. Unless F9 has plans on the horizon for trips of this legnth the 319 is the better choice.

I heard TED's getting ready to beat the competition by putting pictures of Alfred E. Newman on all their tails.

I see the A320's or even 321's making sense for long haul high volumue routes like to ANC in the summer and possibly to the caribean. Do you see F9 flying to HI in the forseable future?

319 and 318 range is better than both the 320 and 321. 321 is a pig... Jeff Potter will love to go to Hawaii. Yields are low.

The A319 and A320 really have about the same legs :)
They both carry around 42,000lbs of fuel. However, since the A319 only has to carry about 140 pax (210lbs of midwest girth = 29400lbs) vs. 160 pax in the A320 (33,600lbs of Wisconsin cheese).

With the ticket price ceiling around $299 per ticket, I think the extra 20 seats might help to cover some of the costs for little additional outlay.
