Hello I would like some advice , I will borrow from my dads life savings 50k ,I feel guilty and afraid. But at the same time I am sick of working In places like walmart, not doing what I would love to do wich is flying for an airline.
Please give me advice of where to go get my other ratings, I got my private at a local airport but it took to long and it was a headache. I would like to maybe go to an academy or similar, all advice is greatly appreciated.

some places I had in mind
all atps
Regional Airline Academy
PEA
Flight safety
any other please addvice.

I also would like to know if I can kill two birds with one stone and maybe like get multi engine and comercial combined or multi and instrument combined is that better thanks a bunch.

It's between you and your Dad. You should be aware that even if you actually get a job at the airlines, you may never be able to fully repay him. With the time involved in getting your ratings and then building time at low paying jobs it would certainly be years before you were able to afford to make any kind of dent in the loan. You both should understand that before you cut the deal. You should be sure that your parents can make do without the 50k before you take it from them, they may never see it again.

Okay, I'll bite. If money's that tight just do it the "old fashioned" way (like most of us did) and pay as you go. It might take a little longer, but unless you're already 50 years old, who cares? Work a job, keep a steady 3 day a week pace and you'll get it done with no debt to anyone.

MWHAA-HAA-HA!! Din't you see the kid said he did his private at the local airport and "it took too long and was a headache." He wants to go to one of them "academys" where you are told what to do every day and you don't have to think your way through...

just fill in the blanks and you're an airline pilot.

Just as I did, and it worked out best for me. When you teach, you won’t make any money so you might want to keep that job on the side.
When on the regionals, it gets even worse, so save yourself of huge favor and stay debt free, take your time on your ratings, you won't regret it, I don't.

My 2 cents.

You can't go wrong in my opinion by going to some type of Com, ME, Inst academy, I think dragging it out just wastes money, do your research on the school, good luck.

I agree with svcta. See if you can't work out some sort of schedule with your employer. If you do three or more lessons a week you may be surprised by how quickly you can finish. Plus it will save you tons of money. Do your multi and commercial at the same time. However trying to combine the complexities of a multiengine aircraft with the steep learning curve of instrument flying may be a little too much to take, but if you think you can handle it go ahead. Most people elect to do them separate.

didnt read all of the above, but with 50k it might be a stretch at some of those schools. I would stay away. The best deal i have heard price wise doing an acclerated course is through mn aviation at albert lea minnesota. 30k for all of the ratings in 6mo. Granted, you will be flying all day everyday to make it happen that fast, but I guess it is possible

Thanks to everyone for sharing , I will keep searching for schools ,I would rather do accelerated training .
I called flishsafety and pea they will send info.

Ill search for that place in mn thanks.and I guess it is better then to do comercial in a twin engine aircraft?

Commercial in a single, then IFR, then MEL. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong.

That is what you would call the "normal" route at most local FBO's. But a lot of these accelerated courses, such as Flight saftey do commercial instrument in a twin if Im not mistaken. Their seminoles go for 340$ an hour with instructor

>I got my private at a local airport but it took to long >and it was a headache.

Why did it take too long?

How often did you fly each week when you were getting your private license?

Depends on a few things, mostly your wallet, if you were flying once a week, there's very little retention, your spending a lot on a review of what you did on your last lesson, if you have airplane availability and CFI availability, it will be cheaper to do it in one month, (weather permitting).

You dont have to go to one of those acadamys to get done fast. When I was teaching I got a guy done with his instrument rating in 14 days. He studied his butt off when he was at home and did 2 to 3 lessons (flight or ground) with me each day. I will also say that he was a helicopter guy and was getting the Instrument added to his fixed wing side of his cert so that probably had a lot to do with getting it done in 14 days.... but in any event if you buckle down and get a CFI that will fly you twice a day you can get it done in the same time as you would at a place like ATP....and you should be able to save thousands (5000-15000 is my guess...havent instructed for about 5 years so I have no idea how much rental rates are these days) of dollars.

Finding a FBO that is part 141 approved will also help save some money because then you will have less flight time requirements then if you go to a school that is just part 61 approved.

PPL, Inst, Multi-comm= about $35,000

If you use a flying club it could be alot less.
Join the civil air patrol. Become an airport bum. You could do it six months and save a lot of money. You'll still have enough left over to pay for one of the airline jet prep. courses and buy a car and of course....lots of beer.
Don't be in a hurry to go into lots of debt. I've listened to Captains cry and whine about having to pay their loans and not having any money, while I was buliding a new house as an FO.
Good luck and stay focused on your goals.

Agree with above.. my cost up to commercial multi instrument, high performance, high altitude was about 22k. If you plan it all out, and don't be in a hurry and jump into an accelrated program, you will save a bunch!

ok so I have comed to a point where its not looking so nice, they raised my pay at walmart .90cents more I just came back from a 3 month personal leave so If I ask for another one they will probably send me to hell.these would be to go to florida or one of those academys.
second at my local fbo they are low on instructors more even for instrument instructors.
now can anybody tell me if I do intrument on part 41 do i need 50 hours cross country and then I need 40 hours with intructor??
thats a lot of time and bullsh1t. and thats only for intrument wow man these might take way to long .
