Directly from the horse's mouth:
"It is extremely unfortunate that while we are actively attempting to grow our business and provide new opportunities for our people that the ALPA leadership has chosen to put the interests of employees at other companies ahead of folks here at Mesa. This is the second time this has happened recently regarding new Delta flying. Clearly this press release will do nothing more than hurt our chances at earning new business. One has to wonder if this public opposition to the bid process is given by our local ALPA leaders purposefully or unwittingly. Either way it certainly does not have the best interests of the Mesa pilots in mind, plays into the hand of employee groups outside of our company and could well impact Delta's willingness to direct new business to an ALPA carrier, including Mesa. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Most sincerely, Jonathan"
Let me translate this for you guys....what JO said was, he doesn't like Mesa's pilot group sympathizing and working with the guys at Comair and ASA, as expressed in the press release. Certainly a long-needed step in the right direction by all parties.
It further states, that he believes that he has beat his employees down to a level, where even his inept management capabilities can compete for new business with other, better managed airlines, that have a clue on how to run day to day operations.
Further, he doesn't appreciate any collaboration amongst pilot groups, where the goal is to take the cost of labor and QOL out of the equation of running a successful business, and to make money...at whatever expense to the pilot's families....for his precious handpicked, buttkissing shareholders, overpaid and undertalented management staff, and his own family's personal luxury expenses....including, but not limited to the new overpriced luxury condo on Miami's coastline, the infamous estate in Malibu, and his precious Fouga Magister jet trainer...the one he has to have a real pilot fly for him.
Just wanted to make sure you understood the real message there. Oh...and by the way, nice that he is willing to talk to the public about his pilot group through the media, but is unwilling to talk to any of his pilots directly, since we made public, our belief in fundamental flaws in how Mesa is run on a day to day basis. Basically, the two year old mentality of taking your ball and going home.
But, we expected, nor expect, any better from him. Pretty much the epitome of what you get when your company is managed with emotion, rather than sound management practices.
