I was monitoring 119.40 which is tower at KDXR ( Danbury Apt connecticuit)Suddenly I heard a ATC controller clearing someone onto 32right . It seemed like I was getting a "skip" from a distant airport Would anyone know what airport has a 32 right and would have either a twr or approach that uses 119.40 Have any of you ever experienced getting a distant airport on another freq > I am concerned that my kx170b may be showing its age thanks Vavso

As you get more time and road experience, you'll see "skip" more often. I'm sure one of the experts will chime in with the technical aspects of it, but frequency congestion and atmospheric conditions have more to blame than your radios...at least that's what I think, anyway.

The airwaves are getting full...cell towers are disrupting emergency radio's and creating quite an issue...and if you are at any altitude at all, try dialing in 22.9 or 22.8 on any given saturday...it's obnoxious.
