What's the deal with Freedom Airlines? I might have an interview with them soon, but I hear so many bad things about them and what working for them will do to the future of my airline career.

Thanks

Don’t do it

Freedom Pilots are people who have decided it is more important to fly a large RJ than to have morals. These people are worse than scabs!!!! They tried to sell out their own pilot group at Mesa for a few bucks an hour more. Freedom has NO jumpseat agreements with other airlines. I guarantee you that when the majors start hiring again that having freedom on your resume will get you automatically DQ from any interview and don’t ever think about working at AWA. Hold out for any other carrier even Mesa is better.

PS I work for Jetblue and have a running list of all Freedom Scabs and will do my best to keep them out of our pilot group.

PLEASE READ! PLEASE!!!

This is WRONG! I can't believe a guy with a Freedom list thinks (due entirely to Mesa pilots not being proactive enough in educating the pilots at other carriers who have 'the list').

First off, 'bobbyice', you will never get an interview with Freedom, NEVER, b/c they don't hire pilots anymore. (PM me for details if you don't see why after reading this whole post.)

'learob' and everybody else: Freedom was a certificate used by management to get around scope and pressure Mesa and Air Midwest pilots (combined on 1 seniority list as 'mesa pilots'). There were about 90 guys, some from Mesa and some from the street, who went to help managment. These are the guys on 'the list' and all pilots should treat them professional but refuse them any and all courtesy and respect, as they did the same to you when they went to Freedom.

But, as of Mesa's new contract, all pilots on the Freedom certificate were merged back into the Mesa list, and language was put into the contract that requires all flying done by Mesa Air Group to be done by the 'Mesa pilot list', effectively preventing any formation of further alter-ego carriers at Mesa.

Furthermore, since Freedom operates the largest jets with the highest payscales (all CRJ-700's and 900's at Mesa are on the Freedom certificate right now, b/c the Mesa certificate isn't approved for them yet), senior Mesa pilots now are going over to the Freedom certificate (with ALPA's approval), so as to claim what is rightfully theirs, the highest paying jobs at the carrier, befiting their seniority. Therefore, not all pilots flying for Freedom are the back-stabbing pilots who tried to subvert the seniority system and undermine the Mesa negotiations.

B/c the Freedom certificate is the only 1 with the higheest paying positions, the Mesa pilots who went over after the contract was signed are forced to wear Freedom badges. Please, do not discriminate against these guys! These guys are the one who held the line. They likely will be carrying the Freedom 'list' b/c they have been unjustly discriminated against due to the badge they wear. The only way to tell a Freedom back-stabbing pilot from a senior Mesa pilot who held the line is to refer to 'the list'.

If there is ANY confusion (or anyone needs copies of 'the list') please PM me or reply on this thread. I do not support Freedom in any way. I want only to ensure that the most senior Mesa pilots who held the line are not now discriminated against b/c a pilot mistakes them for someone they are not.

-Boo!

Go for it. The race to the bottom was begun by MESA when they were eager to replace Piedmont pilots 10 years ago. The Grand Emir of ALPA has graced Alpa with the Continental scabs. Mesa and Alpa have demonstrated clearly their ability to justify anything. Look out for yourself. "What's good for the Goose is good for the Gander". Don't let the pompous babblers lecture you concerning "principals of employment", I've seen these large headed individuals preach the sermon then be the first in line at the Scab operators. In the end it doesn't matter, you can look at a Alpo scab list which goes back to the 1930's and it doesn't mean squat. The principals of employment in the air carrier business are a feast and famine. Get a job and support your family, thats who your responsible too. If you follow Alpo's creed of whats best for the pilot profession your just cannon fodder for the crooked bureaucracy in ALPO and the pompous crew room babblers who preach nobility but practice BS.

Lets see, how do I put this......

FREEDOM IS NO MORE!!!!!!!

Do a search for the 3000 other posts on Freedom or the Mesa TA, that should answer ALL of your questions.

This topic is a non-issue now. The seniority lists are combined and ALPA pilots are now flying on the Freedom Certificate.

That first post seems like flame-bait, or just someone who has been ill-informed.

And CatBird.......wow....

yes I know all about the new contract.

I have no problem with the guys that went over after the contract was signed just the scum bags who went over before it was in place.

I was flying into Lincoln, NE on the 19th, and I heard Freedom on center freq. Are some flights still using this callsign?

The Certificate and "Freedom" callsign is still alive and well, but there are now some ALPA crews on those jets.

If the ID says Freedom, don't ever expect a ride on AWA!

Where are the the original Freedom pilots being displaced to when the ALPA pilots move in? Are they jerking the gear on the 1900s now?
