Good show although depressing. Sad to see such good airlines like TWA, the original PSA, and North Central (and Republic to an extent) vanish.

Fond memories flying on all three...

The "smiley-faced" PSA jets at BUR and LAX...

"Herman-the-Mallard" logoed tails of North Central...

Flying into RHI, CWA, MKE, and other places on North Central CV580's...

Flying TWA from LAX to ORD and then getting onboard North Central to the WI Northwoods...

About 10 years after the Republic/NWA merger, I came across a MSP Gate Agent who was wearing "Herman" pin. She was quite surprised when I told her I knew what that meant and what a great airline North Central was...

Sadly and tragically PSA went away because of USAIR...and North Central/Republic because of NWA...and TWA because of AA.

Sometimes, mergers aren't a great thing...

Yes, it is was in Fantasyland. The ride is still there, but is decorated like an arab palace with fly rockets.

I think Disney used to sell more sponsorships back then. I used to like the Monsanto's ride where you would shrink down to atomic size. GE had a ride in Fantasyland as well.

Terrific presentation. I remember having the TWA rocketship model when I was a child. I flew on TWA Connies as a child on my first few airplane flights. I am old enough to remember a TWA feature on the original Mickey Mouse Club. In college, I flew 12-22 club standby primarily on TWA. I recall flying on a TWA CV-880 at least once during those years. Never understood why the 880 never really made it.

To me, TWA, and especially its beautiful Connies, exemplified the 1950s Golden Age of airlines.

My early TWA experiences helped to whet my enthusiasm for airplanes and flying. So, watching the presentation saddened me, too.

Didn't mean to depress anyone. I agree, it is saddening to see a 767 cutting the clouds, and in the next picture, seeing it sitting without a tail in the dessert up on railroad ties.

One of the best flights i ever flew on was a flight from JFK to LAX on a TWA 747-200, there where only like 30 people on the whole fight.

Regarding the 767s, I was part in a deal where we bought 1 of there 767-200s for $13million, terrific deal. We tried to buy more as they where an excellent aircraft for VIP conversion, considering there where the 1st fleet of 767s manf......

I just viewed the entire show again - - once Bach's Air on a G String begins, it's hard to turn it off.

ok, I tried it again and this time it worked. Strange.

It was very nicely done, maybe a bit long.

I still think that the last TWA livery (the one with the golden globe on the side) is the nicest one of all the US Majors; it just looks so classy on a 747.

Also, the pic in the show reminded me of the question - but just what purpose does a 747SP serve???? Looks useless to me for passengers. Heavy, bulky freight maybe..
