Sun Country Airlines Names Stan Gadek CEO
Wednesday March 5, 2:59 pm ET AirTran Executive Joins Carrier
ST. PAUL, Minn., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Sun Country Airlines announced today, Stan Gadek will be joining the airline as CEO/President.
Gadek comes to Sun Country from AirTran where he held the position of Sr. VP Finance and CFO since 2000. "Stan is a great addition to the Sun Country Airlines team," said Tom Petters, Sun Country's Chairman. "Stan brings us extensive airline experience with a low cost carrier and a disciplined leadership style which will be key to executing on our plan."
Jay Salmen who is President of Petters Aviation has been serving as interim CEO will continue to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board and work with the management team. Petters Aviation, a division of Petters Group Worldwide, is the majority owner of Sun Country. "In this difficult industry Stan's extensive experience in M&A, debt and equity financing will be of significant value to Sun Country. He also has great people skills which will fit well in the Sun Country culture," Salmen said.
"I look forward to joining the team at Sun Country and continuing the growth of our brand and reputation for quality service," Gadek said.
Gadek will assume his role on March 10.

Maybe a possible future SunCountry/AirTran hook-up? The fleets are complimentary and AAI wants to do more in the Midwest. Maybe AAI is looking for a little love after being spurned by Midwest.
 
One of our more vocal Captains was saying this SC/AAI rumor standing at the gate the other day. I also heard it last month standing in the crew room and on the bus to the lot.....:cool:
