Hi Everyone,

For those interested in Government Jobs, I will be going to a State Government Hiring office on Friday, March 19th to get the scoop about how their system works. I will report my findings to the board.

In addition, I will be attending a specialized seminar in the Federal Employment process in ATL in April. As many of you know who have applied for Federal Jobs, the process is very different. The system works on points and sometimes answering KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) questions. Once again, I will report findings when I return from that conference.

If any of you have any questions about these processes that you would like me to ask, please post them to the thread here so that others may benefit from your inquiries.

Thanks!

Kathy

Thanks, she is a total sweetheart and the best baby! I am so lucky to have her in my life. :)

For consideration, one must meet the vacancy announcement specifics; all not meeting those are automatically discounted.

The key to obtaining a government flying position is first and foremost dependent upon being a handicapped ethnic lesbian veteran, with aids.

After that, some consideration is given to Quality Ranking Factors, or Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

Don't think this is only the government. The last 4 corporate jobs that I had the inside info on hired people fitting into one or more of those categories (other than veteran) - because they were in one of those categories, not because they were best qualified.

What if you're a Metro-Sexual??

Does that garner any special consideration??? :D

I am not a US citizen (British with an FAA Public Trust Security Clearance) and have heard different things about govt. non-US citizens. I have heard that there is no way to get a federal job as a non-citizen, and I have also heard there are ways to do it.
I would also like to know if it is possible to begin the application process with a citizenship application in the works.

Any answers you can find would be greatly appreciated!

Quick question...I know I have asked this in another thread, but here goes.

I have my resume's on-line for both Customs and ART jobs. I am competing for slots against both civilian and military folks. My question, as a military man, is can I use a conversion factor for my military time to equate that of my civilian counterparts.

My military flight time goes from take off to landing, while civil flight time is from engine start to engine stop. I have heard that I should add a .3 per sorte.

Do you know anything about this?

And by the way, the Resume Builder programs on the Air Force Personel Center and the USA Jobs sites are really helpful for those (myself included) that have never had to put together such documents.
