I just got told by one of the office weenies that pilot's get too many days off and so we "don't desrve to have weekends off." Fair enough, but I also happen to know that she is a big churchie. Now, if she really believes that religion is so important, does that mean she wants pilots to go to hell. We can't participate if we ain't there! I also happen to know that our president (I'm a Comair guy) is a big church goer. His wife was just on my flight and she was telling the fa all about her church and the volunteer work she does. The fa solicited this info so she told her. Well it occurs to me that the church is full of all the people that spend the whole week trying to figure out better ways to keep me from my family on the weekends. Maybe that's part of the problem some pilots have with religion. Full disclosure, I'm catholic and I do attend mass during the week when I'm home. It just kind of started me thinking when I met with such open hatred from some one who has so much to do with how my schedule and therefore my family time is meted out.

Dorkuss strikes again

You are barking up the wrong tree pal.....quite outa line. This "churchie" is one of the most genuine persons that you will ever know. How do pukes like you get hired at our airline!!!!! Oh yeah, you were guaranteed an interview.....

You don"t have to go to church to go to Heaven. Jesus saves , not church. Church is a place you go because you are a believer not in order to be a believer. If you can't go, then you can't go. If an alcohlic can't get to the store to get his alcohol he's still an alcoholic.

I guess I can accomodate the obvious flame bait. I like going to church and have had many great experiences visiting local churches where ever I am at the time. For me it's like having a home away from home. Where there is a will to attend church there is a way to do it. Give it a try sometime. I think you'll find a warm welcome.

I only like church if there is a buffet... and even if there is I'd still sleep thru the bullshiat talking part.

In some states they will deliver a 6 pack with your large pizza. And I think only Alcoholics, spell it "alcohilc". Well, that's how I spell it, and say it.

My problem is more with the philosophy of keeping us away from our families, and then sitting on my airplane and telling the fa about all the wonderful christian out reach you are involved in. The woman who I called an office weenie made it abundantly clear that at least at Comair, they want us gone from home as much as possible. Whitecloud, going to mass in the boonies is fine but it will never match sitting next to the wife at the home parish. Also, this causes me to have negative feelings about my own religion so I think it makes for lousy out reach to people like mmmmdonut. Any way I am venting on flight info because that is where I vent. Thanks.

Chick-Fil-et Airways

If Chick-Fil-et got into the airline business, would they still close on Sunday?

I resigned myself to bidding trips that duty-in on Sunday afternoon if I couldn't hold the whole day off - at least that way I get to church with my wife and kids. Usually if I duty-in Sunday afternoon then I can be home Wednesday night. It's a price we pay until our seniority holds Sundays off.

I've read of cases where airline employees attempted to enforce religious accomodation requirements on airlines - don't remember if they were pilots or flight attendants, but they were probably ground crew.

While it doesn't replace corporate worship, private worship watching a beautiful sunset or sunrise, or the power of a thunderstorm (from a safe distance!) helps. Just don't sing "How Great Thou Art" out loud to the other pilot.

Fly safe.
