Daniel Garton is taking the con at Eagle as American begins a "strategic evaluation" of the regional.

"Dan [Garton] has remarkable talent and ability that - when coupled with his broad knowledge of the challenging airline industry and his insight from his time as President of American Eagle - make him uniquely qualified to lead American Eagle, especially as we begin a strategic evaluation of the regional airline," says AMR chairman and CEO Gerard Arpey in a statement.

Garton says he believes there is now "a tremendous opportunity to begin a new chapter in the airline's history, creating new possibilities for our customers, partners and employees".

264 aircraft sure would make for a "super" regional if they combined with another airline. I'm just sayin...

Way too big and way too many 50 seaters. The price of Eagle would probably be $500 mil plus unless SKW gets a spectacular deal. Not out of the question since they got one with ASA. If AMR offers $400 mil and a 20 year contract, TAKE IT!

But do you think that with those Eagle 50 seater Regionla Jets they might be able to make ASA with 13,546 airplanes?

But please this is just me thinking out loud, lets don't start any rumors just yet because AMR is just shopping, it has not been cornfirmed that ASa will be buying American Eagle.

AE is basically unsaleable in its present condition. Garton is there to try and put lipstick on the pig. I believe if AE were to merge with Skywest, AA scope restrictions would prevent them from outsourcing flying to AA.
