NWA Jumpseating

I'm a part 135 cargo guy looking to commute between DTW and MKE. My company is not cass and we're not on your jumpseat list. Is jumpseating going to be possible? Or will I have better chances sticking my thumb out and catching a ride down I-94 with a trucker.

Side note: does anyone have contact info for the jumpseat coord. for NWA?

I'm not a definitive answer on this, but I'd say head out to I-94. Northwest, as of lately, is extremely strick with the JS rules. Good luck.

If your company isn't on the list, your chances of riding the J/S are between slim and none; (and slim is on a coffee break).

Maybe try other airlines out of DTW or even YIP. (?)

Good Luck,

Yeah, I've been askin around my company, everyone seems to say the same thing. Bummer. They are the only ones to have direct flights. With AT I have to go all the way to ATL and waste a day commuting.

What company?

There are a few Pinnacle flights out of MKE to DTW- theres a slim chance that we have your on our list but mainline doesn't.

Man I hate to read this kind of stuff...prior to 9/11and CASS...if you had a private pilot written you were welcome in my jumpseat.

I have to get TSA clearance for my job, why the hell cant they just enter me into the cass system? We are all cleared by the Thousand Standing Around when we get our sida badges. Whats the f**kin point in having pilots jump through more hoops to jumpseat?? How much farther can they shove those probes up our tailpipes? I wouldnt trust those retards to mow my lawn let alone with "protecting our skies". This govt. bullshieeet really pisses me off. Sorry to rant, its just frustrating.

Who do you work for?
Do you have reciprocal agreements?
Does your company offer the jumpseat to other OAL pilots?

And most likely your not in CASS because it costs money. Ask your jumpseat coordinator why you are not in CASS..... If you don't have one work with your front office, or union to establish one. I find it hard to believe that you would accept a job, where you would need to commute without knowing what jumpseat agreements, if any they had. The jumpseat is a benefit, not a guaranteed right, good luck.

Shoot me a PM if you don't want to post on here who you work for... I'm always more than willing to get everyone in my airplane that is trying to go to work, as are the vast majority of guys with whom I work.... whether that be adding ballast or burning more fuel.

.... Send me a PM and I'll let you know if you're on the list.

CASS is not a "system" controlled by the TSA. Get your info on the system before you bash it. It involves cost by YOUR company to put your database into the system. Talk to your people first.

Yeah, it may be run by ARINC, but its a TSA implemented program. Hence the bashing.

CASS is run by the airlines. The FAA/POI is the one that grants the carriers the right to use the Arinc server to share data. Why not talk to your company?
