Here is something theat has been kicking around the last few weeks. I've been told it and discussed it several times online on the past few trips.

In ref to the combined list for MDA, how would the PSA guys feel about being put on to the bottom? IE - Let the PDT and ALG guys have first wack at MDA (in DOH order) then PSA.

I guess it stems from the fact that PSA is (or is supposed to) get 60 CRJ-200's and the 25 700's, that they already got their "gift".

Also another point was brought up about they are already or are about to start hiring off the street even better for the guys that were there (PSA) pre concessions or J4J.

Now (please try not to laugh too hard at this part) when it comes time to flow to mainline (again stop laughing) the flow to mainline would be a combined list of all 3 WO's (ALG, PDT, PSA) DOH.

Have at it...

PDT and ALG pilots have preferential hiring at PSA and they can use original Group DOH for Non rev benefits.

I don't think it matters how we shuffle the lists for MDA. Most J4J guys don't even want to go there, and most PSA people won't want to go either.

The "gift" of the 700s might not be a gift afterall........

Why aren't the -700's a "gift"? Well, not a gift exactly, but why aren't they a good thing for PSA?

In a nutshell, mianline will aloow the staffing on these A/C at 50/50 but they want to intigrate their senority into PSA so they can get some lines.

In other words, they want the farm to bring them here.

You mean mainline DOH seniority for any J4J pilots? Is that what you mean?

In any case, it's only 50/50 if they get enough pilots to agree to come your way, right? If they don't come, then it's all "your" pilots...??

They want to use their (J4J's) mainline senority for bidding. I can't get into the specifics, but in this case, it would push most of the PSA pilots to the bottom half of the senority list for bidding and most of the reserve.

Well, gee, I thought the whole point of J4J was that they let the furloughs in the door, but they get their DOH at their new job, not their DOH at mainline.

Eeek.

a little confusion I think...

APL pilots participating in J4J get their mainline DOH for purposes of bidding into the aircraft only. When it comes down to everything else (schedules, vacation, etc), they get the DOH at said carrier. This was something that was not very well understood by the rank and file at ALG before we voted for the snowjob that we got. Of course, I understand that the 50/50 is not exactly being adhered to at PSA for purposes of "staffing" the 328 (another indication that this whole mess wasn't well thought out), which probably skews the above concept in favor of the APL pilots. But back to the original topic that Lear brought up. One side of me says let PSA out in the cold, their MEC ran off hand-in-hand with management and let the other two out to dry, the other side says "a deal is a deal" (our seniority runs circles around theirs anyway), and they have their sexy CRJ's to fly, so the interest their group might have in MDA is probably less than that of ALG and PDT's.

BTW, Lear, the next time I find your fingers smudged into the dust on my car, you might find your valve cores missing from your tires! Childish dude.

Hey, just making up for you farting on my couch.

How close are the WO's to getting a list finalized to flow into MDA? I know that USAirways had to go way down on the furlough list to fill the 4/5 class and they are doing the same for a 4/12 class. These were for FO positions. One would think that they will run out of furloughees to fill future classes very soon.

It's amazing that they are calling people to offer classes with less than a weeks notice. Yet if you leave the same company, they sure had better get their two weeks notice.

sayagain?

I understand that by "this summer", pilots from the WO's can expect calls for MDA. And according to a recent code-a-phone, the list is in the process of being finalized and should be available for the rank and file in a few weeks. Apparently, WO'd pilots will be able to complete a "bid sheet" on which they can express their interest in the flow-through, with 4 options. 1) not interested (upcoming retirees?) 2) interested in mainline only (years down the road?) 3)captain position at MDA 4) first available at MDA. This info comes from a union official, and I do not, forever trying to be optimistic, consider it rumor.

I have heard a rumor stating that the powers-that-be, with the apparent lack of interest that the APL pilots are expressing in FO positions at MDA and the expected interest that WO'd pilots might have, are considering street hiring for MDA until the Dash retirements catch up with staffing. I guess if enough people flow up (or over, depending on your opinion), they are expecting staffing problems at the WO's, since we are short right now as it is. I don't understand this rumor, since our (ALG's) restructuring agreement is especially poor for new hires (read: economical for the company). But if this is indeed the case, the WO'd pilots who are passed over must get retroactive seniority and MDA pay in the interim.

Oh, by the way, Dash 8, I stared and stared at your avatar, trying to figure out what in the world I was staring at. It suddenly hit me, I spend way too much time prowling these message boards and I need to get out more. And you, my friend, spend way too much time prowling those x-ray camera voyeur websites! But there's absolutely nothing wrong with a little toe...

"I understand that by "this summer", pilots from the WO's can expect calls for MDA"

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH spring is in zee air and just on time arrives the next big "hope" (maybe by now we should call it "hype") for the doomed ALG and PDT guys. Last year it was "jet are comming" and for years before things like "flowthru" or "flowthru and jets" and the ever popular "RJ's are just a fad".

This summer comming to a broke dick, run down, rat infested crew room in your domacile we have "this summer" or "this summer MDA". Like a fish on a hook we just get strung along. With our running record and luck just as they get to the WO list mainline will announce that all remaing E170 orders are going to CHQ as we no longer have cash to finance the rest. Then its back to the DASH for you old WO boy, "THIS SUMMER", can't wait, not holding breath.
