Saw a former US Air tomato jet climbing outta MRY on Tues. around 1430. Still had the red fus. and US Air flag on the tail. Couldn't see if it had markings on the side, any ideas?
Oh Yeah.. That one.. Well, funny story actually. Someone brought it to the attention of Airways senior management That the Airframe in question was being eyed by the competition for scraps, as it was already partially canabalized for it's engines and avionics.
Siegal would have none of that. He ordered two new motors and an EFIS package and spent some $15M getting that big bird ready to fly again.
So at 1430 a few days ago it launched for the Arizona desert to find it's final resting place. You can't tell me Airways has no plan!!
